Game Type: Big Guns Never Tire (4 objectives)

Turn 1a: White Scars move their Rhino into nearby ruins. Khan leads the bikes onto the ruins with the scouts. Dark Angels fire their plasma cannon at the enemy Rhino; the gunner get killed by the overheating gun.

Turn 1b: All vehicles rush forward. Marines in Rhino kill two scouts, and Land Raider destroys a bike. Maulerfiend wrecks White Scars Rhino. Tactical Marines bail out.
Points: 0-1

Turn 2a: Deathwing Knights teleport in behind Chaos Rhino. White Scars marines fire both melta weapons at the Maulerfiend; it suffered a shaken result with one hull point left. Bikes take a hull point off the Rhino while the vehicle and passengers are stunned. Both vehicles are wrecked in melee.
Points: 1-1

Turn 2b: Land Raider moves towards the Deathwing Knights, and the occupants rush out. The combine fire from the Land Raider, Berserkers, and Chaos Marines only take down two of the Knights. Marines charge into melee against them. The Knight Commander and Aspiring Champion off each other in a challenge; one knight is brought low for the price of three marines. The marines fail their morale check, and run off the board.

Conclusions: We had to call the game at this point. The Dark Angels started on an objective, and never left it. White Scars and Berserkers both claim one on the second turn. Additionally, the lone Deathwing Knight was still in the enemy's deployment zone.
System: Fetian, Planet: Maracha

Two years. Two damnable years we've spent trying to protect this near worthless rock. Things were bad even from the start. Chaos was a difficult opponent already. Landings attempts by the Lankock XCI, CCXCIV, and DI Regiments suffered near-total casualties. Cadian DXIX and Vatarian DLXXXIII secured the LZs, and pushed out against tremendous opposition.

We were sent down with a fellow Vatarian regiment: the CCXII. Even to this day, I still don't understand why nine entire regiments of infantry were sent down to protect an entire planet with only a battalion of tanks, a company of artillery, and only eighty-three planes.

Somehow, we made serious progress in pushing back the enemy. The locals, even though they were armed with bolt-action rifles, proved to be a great help in waging this war. Despite only two of the nine regiments being mechanized, our efforts pushed the lines back over three hundred and thirteen kilometres in just a little less than a month.

Nobody expected the orks to show up to the fight. Their transports managed to, somehow, evade the Imperial fleet in orbit and made unmolested landings behind the enemy lines. Chaos formations swiftly fell into absolute chaos as the greenskins began their relentless assaults. Those who could, threw themselves into our fire. Our first engagements with them were fairly easy. Their rushed to the villages we were holding, and we sprayed with tripod guns until they died.

Unfortunately, their leader was using those fights to learn about us. Ork artillery batteries began their barrage on our positions. Their ramshackle planes and vehicles started their around-the-clock attack on units caught in the open.

Major Carpenter led his Second Company in a daring raid which ended with the warboss' head as a trophy, the utter annihilation of their fuel and ammo depots, and several of the artillery guns that were causing problems.

Unfortunately, that would the last act 2nd Company did on the planet. I had argued with Lord-General Von Sica against taking them to Arrakia, but lowly Knight-Commanders don't win arguments with Lord-Generals. 2nd Company departed with the four platoons of the newly formed composite Lankock DCI regiment and three-quarters of the fleet.

It turned out that the ork horde we faced was only a vanguard for the massive tide that crashed into us. Despite the valiant efforts of the remaining ships, many roks made it past their blockade even before taking losses. The battle for orbit went on for hours, but it ended with all ships lost. True to my prediction, when the mass of bodies smashed into our defences, the hole created by the absence of 2nd Company was taken full advantage of.

Convoys of trukks loaded to bear with orks covered in armor (armed with their shootas) rushed through the gap, and only stopped long enough for their infantry to hop out, slaughter the defenders, and get back into their vehicles. With that gap widened and secured, ork tanks made their breakthrough and swarmed the across the countryside.

We only managed to escape because we were mechanized. Von Sica's command post was tore apart, and he had to retreat to 3rd Battalion's (of the Cadian DXIX) position. These veteran troops were protecting a vital railway hub in the city of Shemu that connected to nearly all corners of the planet. They were cut off from the rest of us by the vast ork air force. The siege lasted for seven months; in the end, only thirty guardsmen and four-hundred seventy civilians made it out. Lord-General Von Sica was killed two days before the escape attempt by a gretchin sniper.

As for us, the orks chased us all the way back our original landing zone. There we made our stand with the Cadian's Command Company alongside their 4th, 2nd Battalion from the Vatarian CCXII, and twelve light tanks. Even with the assistance of the aircraft launched by the vessels (before they were wrecked) and the timely arrival of the Vatarian DLXXXIII, the greenskins drove us back from our most heavily fortified garrison.

They chased us once more through the desert. We had to use our APCs to guard the trains the others were using to evacuate their men. Luckily we now had planes screaming overhead to protect our rout from the ork divebombers. We couldn't halt the orks until we came under the shadow of the Maa-kheru Mountains. There, I was able to coordinate an effective defence of the region from a position that my men and I have took to rename 'Charpelli Hill'.

A series of battles and sieges have occurred since then, but we haven't moved back much for all that time. Of the planet, we retain control of only five towns: Kemet to the north, Kenbet just under Charpelli Hill, the fortress of Kadesh and the besieged metropolis of Kagemni to the east, and on the other side of the mountains lies Shemu.

Now, we only have twenty-five hundred guardsmen and less than two thousand support personnel left. Out of the eighth of a million natives still alive, thirty thousand are assisting us in the fighting. Shared between the five towns are thirty-three Devil Dog light tanks and twenty-one Leman Russ medium tanks, all without fuel and running out of ammo. Thirteen Basilisk artillery guns cover the entire region from the cover the Maa-kheru Mountains. Inside those mountains is the airfield that houses the last plane on Maracha.

This pilot has my recommendation for numerous awards for the service she has performed over the last year. Nearly every day, she goes out in her lone Thunderbolt to defend everyone from the packs of ork bombers and fighters. Her victories are helping to sustain the morale of the general populace and my men. At the closing days of the year of our Emperor 999.M41, this pilot's count is an astounding 982 confirmed enemy kills.

If these records survive long enough for a loyalist in the Emperor's service to find them, I commend the bravery and resolve of everyone who has given their lives for the planet of Maracha. May the Emperor watch over us all.

Signing out (hopefully, not for the last time),
Knight-Commander Zora of the Vatartian XII RegimentAnonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18171116947446645884noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5017964646885683312.post-61013624208813483642015-04-26T00:52:00.000-07:002015-04-26T00:52:00.626-07:00Arrakia: Outpost Judo++Outpost Judo++
Seventy-six Kilometers from Leytan City. Roughly three years after the capture of the city, It remains engulfed in the warp spawned sandstorm. The command elements in the city have only scattered reports from garrisons outside the storm-wall. All forces are operating with only local command elements and support.

++Fifth Platoon, eighth company, XII Regiment++
-Lieutenant Parker, four squads of ten men.
-Support element of six Chimeras, four heavy bolter teams

It was another day of standing guard under the unforgiving suns of Arrakia. Private Fox stood upon the walls of Outpost Judo staring out into the endless sea of sand that surrounded the isolated post. The only thing he had to look forward to was the occasional pot-shots taken from Chaos cultists that were encamped a few kilometers out. Their 'raids' had been few and far between as of late, and Fifth Platoon showed signs of lowering morale as their boredom took hold. The Lieutenant attempt to curb this with daily physical training and drills, but the heat of the sun proved to be a strong deterrent even to the officer corps. Lack of communication, mail, supplies, and fresh equipment proved to be an issue as well, with some men openly beginning to modify their kit to accommodate the environment. While this practice was frowned upon by quartermasters, the regimental commander had authorized it directly for men who had been planetside for more than a year. Fox leaned against the bulwark of the permacrete wall, lighting a lho stick and staring down at the sand below, thinking about home and the hellish world he was on now.
A thunderous explosion rattled his teeth as a large chunk of the wall a ways down from his was reduced to rubble. The shock sent him hurtling across the ramparts and face first into the steel walkway. He removed his helmet and squinted into the desert. To his surprise, several plumes of exhaust and sand were being kicked up by rapidly advancing rhinos.
"Contact Eastern Wall! It's the Marines, all hands on deck!"
Alarms rang loudly as men rushed up the wall and into the rubble caused by the breach. The men waited in silence as the rhino's advanced. Lieutenant Parker quickly rushed up to Fox's position. "Status Private?" he inquired calmly
"Six Rhinos sir. Rapidly advancing" Fox replied with some hesitation.
Parker scoffed. "It's just like before, they'll stop about sixty meters out, fire on our position and realize they can't break through, then pull back." he turned to face his men. "Steady yourselves, we've all done this before. Keep discipline and fire once they disembark the vehicles."

The Rhinos roared forward at a breakneck speed not slowing nor stopping. The clouds of sand being kicked up behind them serving as a natural smoke screen only barely keeping up with the vehicles that caused them. Fox's eyes widened as he saw the insignia on the front of the lead Rhino.

"Uh.. Sir."
"Yes Private?"
He choked on his words. "Those.. Those are World Eaters."
Parker panicked as he saw the devouring fangs engulfing an ancient Terran like planet. "By the Emperor.."

With a great roar a Corrupted Land Raider tore through the cloud of sand and smoke toward the Outpost, quickly outpacing the Rhinos and smashing into the breach made by earlier artillery fire. The red and Brass of the tainted vehicle gleaming in the sunlight, Desecrated corpses and skulls littered the behemoth of a tank. Quickly, it's forward ramps dropped. There was a briefest moment of silence before the roar of a dozen chain axes filled the air. A single battle cry was the last thing the defenders of Judo heard.

"BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD!"Vaeushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01796326406984257513noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5017964646885683312.post-65277332892613573732015-04-07T13:48:00.004-07:002015-04-07T13:48:49.256-07:00Battle of Charger Pass pt. 2Over a year ago, I posted the first part of the first major tank battle of the Arrakian Campaign. Here is the prelude to the battle.

Fountains of dirt erupted aroundthe front vehicles of the ork column. The leading battlewagon was disabled, though the turret was operational. Warbuggies and Wartrakks pass by to continue up the valley road. Buried mines activate and destroy them.

A silhouette of a turret was spotted over the top of a nearby hill as it rotated. It fired at a trukk close to the front. The resultant explosion send ork pieces and shrapnel flying in all directions. A nearby trukk had its tires shredded, and the blast pressure toppled it.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Scratch two ruskets," Lieutenant Taylor stated. While the driver and sponson operators cheered, the turret gunner loaded another AP shell. Taylor looked back through the periscope.

Fire and dirt obscured his view. The sound of the explosion drowned out all noise from inside the tank; even people talking over the headphone couldn't be heard. When his view was cleared, Taylor saw the main gun on the disabled battlewagon aimed at them.

"Gabby! Two-point-five degrees left, minus fifteen degrees azimuth." The hand-crank was used to rotate the turret and another adjust the vertical. Two beeps alerted Taylor it was ready to fire. He clicked the talk toggle in response. The recoil from the gun shook the entire tank.

Their target exploded with such that the turret flew off of the vehicle. Another trukk close by lost its driver when the barrel of the flying turret smashed into it. The battlewagon was engulfed in a fierce fire.

Shells rained down around their Leman Russ, the WyrmSlayer, but only a few came close to hitting. Battle cannons lobbed shots over from the hills on the other side of the highway. The orks tried to leave the way they came, but their retreat was blocked by the arrival of a company of Malcador Heavy Tanks. Leading them were the three Thunder Dragons' Predators.

A volley of fire launched from the flanking attack. Vehicles at the rear of the ork column were torn apart. This stopped the greenskins from moving. At the same time, Captain Kaga called in an airstrike. Marauder Bombers streaked in and unloaded their payload.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ork tanks that were destroyed pulled out to either side of the road. A Fire Prism rolled past the first line of hills on the tracks salvaged from a Baneblade. Prism Cannon aimed quickly and killed a Russ in one shot. After it cleared the way, buggies and trakks zoomed ahead.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
WyrmSlayer was already taking aim at the orkified tank. Signal gave, and the shot was fired. The shot went wide; slamming into the ground some ways away. "Ken, get us out of here," Taylor yelled.

Back in the periscope, the enemy moved behind while elevating its main gun to hit them in the rear. With a jerk, the tank ran towards the tank. Taylor's face bashed into the viewer. It happened again when the Russ impacted the Prism. An energy beam was heard firing overhead.

Things went tilted as the tank went forward and over the side of the hill.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A round zoomed right below the main cannon of the Prism from behind. The Prism turned around; the Malcador was running full speed at it. An energy beam reached out; a sizable portion of the tread was blasted off. The rest of it fell off, halting the Malcador.

Its muzzle blasted another shell. The impact was against the side of the turret, but the shell bounced off and exploded some distance away. Another impact, and subsequent explosion, rocked the tank. But, the shot failed to penetrate the hull.

A second beam hit the underside of the Malcador's turret, and blasted it off. The vehicle was engulfed in flames. A second explosion soon tore apart the rest of it.

With that, the cannon on the Fire Prism rotated as the vehicle turned. A Leman Russ was backing out of its pit, and another shot came out. It struck the hill off to the side. The Prism retaliated with shots of its own. Multilas secondary guns shot off the front-mounted lascannon, while the main gun melted the gears for the treads.

Engines roared as it sped by the disabled enemy. The Prism ran over the burning husk of a warbuggy, and back onto the highway. Its turret tracked the movement of WrymSlayer up ahead. Two shots later, and the Leman Russ was set ablaze.

A woman hopped out of the cupola, and ran for cover. The multilas gunner ended her flight. At the bellowing of the Tank Nob, the vehicle roared on as its fastest speed.

It only stopped at the sight of a mighty Baneblade, Hammer Against The Horde. All weapons on the beast of a machine quickly trained on the Fire Prism and unleashed the barrage. The orks inside their looted tank never had a chance to return fire.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The ambush of the ork armoured column worked out better than the Captain had planned. While the brunt of the greenskin's armoured might was stymied; it was not without great cost. Of the thirty Malcadors sent in to box the orks in, only twelve survived the attack. Fifty-four Leman Russes and over 600 Guardsmen lost their lives.

An estimated 180 ork vehicles and over 9,000 greenskins were killed.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18171116947446645884noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5017964646885683312.post-84436848359256983422015-04-05T15:38:00.001-07:002015-04-05T15:38:34.597-07:00BATTLE SCENARIO: Eden PrimeSystems Alliance Objective: Protect the beacon.

Enemy Assets:

Unknown number of Geth. Estimates place them between 1,000 to 6,000 mobile platforms.

Intelligence resources of the SPECTRE office via Saren Arterius.

Sovereign, a 2 km tall Reaper.

Friendly Assets:

Unknown number of Alliance marines. Estimates equate their numbers in the area to around the same as the Geth.

Team of commandos lead by an N7 agent and a SPECTRE, Nihilus.

Normandy SR-1, a stealth frigate.

History:

Archeologists uncover a working Prothean beacon. The Systems Alliance is informed who, in turn, inform the Citadel Council.

Saren Arterius learns of this from his position as a SPECTRE. He tells Sovereign, and gathers a task force of Geth.

Upon entering the Utopia system, comm buoys are destroyed. The colony is attacked in complete surprise. Geth landed via shuttle, ambushing squads near the beacon and secure the area.

The Normandy SR-1 exits the Mass Relay station with stealth systems engaged. They pick up emergency transmissions from the planet showing the fighting.

Normandy lands a commando team who head to the beacon at the cost of a marine and Nihilus.

Saren uses the beacon, and orders bomb set up to destroy it. He leaves shortly afterwards back to Sovereign.

The commando team defuse the bomb and the leader also uses the beacon. It blows up right after that.

Could the Imperial Guard succeed where the Systems Alliance failed?

First, we must define their assets. Systems Alliance marines are replaced with PDF troopers and their full array of ground equipment.

This includes armoured vehicles and artillery.

The planet is replaced with an Imperial world of similar importance. It has multiple deep space augurs in orbit.

The Normandy and her crew are replaced with a small Imperial frigate and an Inquisitor with acolytes.

The augur stations in space will give advanced warning of Sovereign's approach, allowing for the troopers groundside to not be caught unawares.

Since Geth protection is optimized against kinetic impactors they will prove easier for the lasguns to kill than Necrons. Their lack of armour will also be a hindrance against the Leman Russ tanks or even the Chimera-based light tanks of the Guard.

Needless to say, if the Geth don't reach the beacon in the opening stages of their landing, they will not get to it. The PDF could hold them long enough for the Inquisitor to retrieve the beacon and leave.

How would the Imperial Guard fare in place of the Geth?

First, we must define their assets. Geth are replaced with Guardsman, Saren with an Inquisitor, and Sovereign with a transport ship.

Comms buoys are destroyed (just like in the original battle) during the ship's approach.

The landing would be conducted with wings of Valkyries. This ensures they can land wherever they want, and have close-in aerial support for their assault.

Their rapid insertion guarantees their ability to secure the beacon.

After the Inquisitor uses it, they can use the Valkyries to withdraw to orbit. Then, the orbiting ship would conduct an Exterminatus on the site to destroy the beacon and anyone in the area. This ensures nobody else could use it, and might cover their trail.

Conclusions: Their particle weapons make things easier for the infantry to dominate their counterparts; and their combined-arms tactics make it easier to achieve their objective, no matter which side they're on. The early warning system in orbit will make sure they aren't surprised by the attack, and the ability for rapid insertion and rapid relocation is their best weapon on the attack.

I give the Imperial Guard 2 for 2 points for this scenario.
System: Harkonnen; Planet: Arrakia

Location: Leyton City

Hundreds of planes roared through the sky on their way to attack the capitol of Arrakia. Formations of Lightnings were ahead of the Thunderbolts and Avengers, who themselves flew tens of miles in front of the Marauders. The 59th Estrucian Air Regiment comprised the center of the first wave. Air Wing Veri was leading the assault.

Tarquin noted the massive black line snaking its way through the desert towards the horizon. As they flew ever closer to the capitol, Leto Highway turned from a single line to a complex of roads shooting out in all directions. "Rookie! Keep to formation!" he heard over the channel.

He found his plane was drifting to the right. "Sorry ma'am." The plane was eased back into place. "The highway is impressive, though. Wouldn't you say?"

"Yeah, it is; that highway is what keeps life going on this planet. Leyton City is the only place on this world with a spacep..." There was silence on the line that seemed an eternity. "Command, we have a break-out attempt by Chaos! I'm spotting Rhinos, Vindicators, and Predators in the dozens with a far larger number of Chimeras."

Tarquin looked back down at the ground. Large bands of dust clouds partially obscured those vehicles behind the front line. Some of them appeared to possess quad-barrelled turrets. He noticed that those turrets turned to look at them. "Ma'am we have Hydras!"

"Damn! We have let the Thunderb..." Flak clouds erupted in their vicinity. The planes scatter. Tarquin sends his into a climb. After levelling out over two thousand meters higher, he searches the sky for others from his wing. Multiple smoke trails told of Lightnings shot down. He spotted another with red-striped wings just before the engine exploded; its head tumbling to the ground, the pilot unable to eject.

A plane rolled over him, belly up. Tarquin's attention snapped to the noise. The pilot of the other Lightning waved at him. He recognized the plane as Sethra. As she completed the roll to level with him, Tarquin spotted several glints of sunlight approaching them. They were to the right and above the Lightning's position.

He pointed to them, directing Sethra's attention. She saw them and indicated back to him with a thumbs up. Her plane climbed while banking into a roll to the right. Tarquin kicked his craft to follow.

While they were belly up, the approaching could finally be identified as Hell Blades. The enemy craft fired their Autocannons. Tarquin tried to ignore the intense increase of comm chatter as other pilots cried in horror of the enemy attacking from multiple angles. Soon, Sethra completes her roll behind the Hell Blades. She unleashed her lascannons as soon as she could; Tarquin close behind.

One exploded into a fireball, and the second loses a wing. Everyone else in the formation dispersed as their compatriot spins out of control. The one Tarquin was about to shoot turns to the left into Sethra's fire. Another Hell Blade turned into a fireball.

Tarquin followed as Sethra pursued an enemy turning to the left. They went in a circle two times hoping to get the enemy in their gunsight. Tarquin noted that the Hell Blade was making its turn tighter with each consecutive circle. It was only a matter of time before that could be used to get their turn, and ultimately on their tail.

Another circle happened, and another. The Hell Blade came closer to their backsides. Halfway through the next, Sethra inverts and dives for the deck. Tarquin sends his plane into a climbing roll to the left; when his belly is up, he also goes into a dive. A hail of fire erupts during the manoeuvre; a number of impacts slam into the body right behind the canopy and trail upward to the tail.

The Lightnings pull out and begin their climb with less than three hundred meters to the ground. Their opponent climbed opposite them, the pilot looking viewing them from his canopy. Both groups fly up as far as their planes can go, the Hell Blade peaks at slightly above them, before their arc brings them back into a dive.

It was then that another two Hell Blades streak out of the clouds above to fire at them. None of their shots were close, but Sethra banks to the left and hits the afterburners after levelling out. One of the new arrivals pulls a banking right climb into a dive to chase her done. The other does an inverting roll to make its dive parallel to Tarquin.

Tarquin had to immediately pull his plane back into a climb to avoid getting shot. His opponents took some seconds to react accordingly. The new Hell Blade hit its afterburners after starting its climb. Autocannon shells impacted tore off the tip of a wing before the plane came, uncomfortably, close and passed Tarquin. Despite how easy a target the Hell Blade became, Tarquin resisted the temptation to shoot it.

More Autocannon shells whizzed by his cockpit. He looked back to see the other Hell Blade keeping up with him through the manoeuvre. They went back into the dive. A single lascannon shot blew apart the Hell Blade that tried to kill him just seconds ago. He rolled the plane to avoid the explosion and shrapnel.

The other enemy proceeded on, and pulled back into the climb at the same level as Tarquin. Both planes continued on through two more rounds. Heading into the third, Tarquin's plane was loose in its transition back to climb. The enemy zipped on ahead, and ended up above him. The Lightning continued the turn until it pointed the Hell Blade and fired.

An explosion tore the opponent in half; the pilot managing to eject beforehand. Tarquin managed to evade the explosion, but shrapnel could be heard pelting all over. He levelled out, and checked his instruments. One of the tail rudders was inoperable and the fuel was leaking. Tarquin called it a day and flew out of the combat zone without incident.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18171116947446645884noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5017964646885683312.post-68616962199474889152015-02-18T04:54:00.003-08:002015-02-18T04:54:41.762-08:00Arrakian Accord: Recent summation
Well guys, it's been a while. Here is a summation of events of the campaign. There have been two battles, lost to the annals of history.
Summed up: The tau arrived and pleaded for assistance from the Imperials, specificially the steel nightmares. In exchange for helping fight the heretics, the tau will be given mechanical assistance.

Leytan city was secured in a bloody, bloody fight. It was an apocolypse size game that left hundreds dead or wounded. However with the securing of the Leytan spaceport, The Imperials can now reinforce themselves. The lack of supplies and men will lead to massive refit operation and supply drops. The rest will be revealed in the next arrakian accord proper.

I apologize for the lack of pictures on this but my camera has a bad battery right now.

James' Forces: Imperial Guard
Leman Russ Command Squad (Vanquisher {Warlord} and 2 Demolishers)
2 Veteran Squads (Grenadier)
1 Veteran Squad (Forward Sentry [with Lord Commissar and Chimera])
Scout Sentinel Squad (2 Autocannons and 1 Missile Launcher)
Banewolf
Allied Forces: Space Marines (Imperial Fists rules)
Pedro Kantor {Warlord}
Techmarine (2 Servitors)
Sternguard Veterans (Heavy Bolter [Razorback (Heavy Bolters)])
2 Tactical Squads (10 Man [Heavy Bolter]) [Rhino]
Scout Squad (Camo Cloaks)
Venerable Dreadnought
Stormraven

My Guys: Space Marines (Iron Hands rules)
Master of the Forge (Bike)
Techmarine
Sternguard Veterans (Heavy Bolter, Power Weapon and Plasma Pistol)
[Razorback (Lascannons)]
2 Tactical Squads (Lascannon)
1 Tactical Squad (10 Man [Meltagun and Multi-Melta], Melta Bomb) [Rhino]
Attack Bike Squad (3 Bikes [Multi-Melta])
Thunderfire Cannon
Predator (Lascannons)
Hunter
Vindicator
Allied Forces: Imperial Guard
Command Squad (All Advisers)
3 Veteran Squads
2 Veteran Squads (2 Chimeras)
Veteran Squad (with Commissar)
Leman Russ

Turn 1a: James' team had the initiative that I utterly failed to seize. He had the Sentry Veterans infiltrate on to a skypad that was made better by their Techmarine.

Their movement consisted of moving the two Demolisher Russes forward, while the Venerable Dreadnought and the left field Rhino scurried into cover.

First shots rung from the Sentry Vets aimed at Tactilas Squad 1 (sitting on top of a upgraded ruin). Three hits resulted, but zero wounds came about. Both Demolisher Russes fired at the Command Squad (in another upgraded ruin) to cause a whopping three casualties. The Razorback shot at the other Tactilas Squad 2 which resulted in one dead marine.

Command Squad's morale held firm.

Turn 1b:
A Veteran Squad and Venerable Dreadnought moved out of their ruins while the the Vindicator rolled into one without getting immobilized. Attack Bike Squad (and attached Master of the Forge) drove the edge of the board behind a building. Melta Squad Rhino blitzed forward as far as it could. The Lasorback moved clear of the Thunderfire Cannon's view. Last move was the repositioning of the Lasdator.

First, an artillery strike was called upon the Sentry Vets, but rolled off onto the Command Russ without damage. The Thunderfire Cannon unleashed a barrage of air-bursting shrapnel that killed three of them. Both melta weapons lined up their snap shots on a Demolisher Russ, and miraculously hit and penetrated with both. This resulted in a tank with a stunned crew. The Hunter (sitting behind a chest high wall) fired at the right field Rhino, but failed to score a hit. Tactilas Squad 1 immobilized the Lord Commissar's Chimera. Tactilas Squad 2 and the Leman Russ destroyed both weapons on the enemy Razorback. Lasorback takes aim at the side armor of the Command Russ and penetrates it. After barely failing the cover save, the tank suffered an "Exploded!" result. Lasdator turns the other Demolisher Russ into an exploding husk with a single shot to the side armor. The Vindicator breached the side armor of the remaining Russ and made it a wreck. Finally, the Rhino popped smoke.

Sentry Vets refused to run.

Victory Points: 0-4

Turn 2a: Despite the success of the Officer of the Fleet, all reserves come into play. Sentinels and Scouts outflank into the corner behind the Thunderfire Cannon. Banewolf outflanks into position behind a Vet Squad squatting in ruins. Stormraven flies straight at my Venerable Dreadnought.

The ruined Razorback retreats behind cover as their Dreadnought marches forward.

Scouts immediately open fire on the Techmarine stationed at the cannon; killing him instantly. Sentinel Squad unleashed their arsenal into the back of my allies' Leman Russ which only resulted in one hull point taken. Sentry Vets fire again at Tactilas Squad 1, but fail to cause a single wound. Stormraven and Chimera unload everything they have against the Venerable Dreadnought to a result of two hull points taken and a crew stunned. The Heavy Bolter sitting in the left field Rhino manages to pierce the smoke cloud and glance the side armor of my sole Rhino. Banewolf spewed its toxic concoction into a crowd of Veterans; killing six of them.

The Veterans who suffered from the Banewolf's attack had held firm their resolve and stayed put. I failed both of the "It Will Not Die" rolls, so neither the Dreadnought or Rhino got anything back.

Turn 2b: My ally managed to get ally of his reserves onto the table. One squad of Veterans rushed up right behind his Leman Russ. The other two showed up around the Banewolf.

Master of the Forge and his squad hightail it back to their original (except facing the Sentinels). Sternguard Vets abandon their Lasorback while the accompanying Techmarine went to man the Thunderfire Cannon. The Melta Squad jumped out of their Rhino as its engines gunned it forward as far as possible. Though badly damaged, the Dreadnought stepped towards the Lord Commissar and his Vets.

Sternguard Veterans decimate the entire Scout Squad with a hail of Kraken Bolt rounds. The Attack Bikes blast away at the Sentinels with their Multi-Meltas; resulting in two being immobilized and the other merely being shaken. Leman Russ fails to score any hits against the enemy Dreadnought. Krak grenades thrown by two entire squads of Veterans only take a hull point from the Banewolf. One shot from the Lasdator causes it to explode, which kills a combined three Veterans from both squads. A combined attack from air-bursting shells and an artillery strike kill six Sentry Vets. Lasorback fails to do any damage against enemy Rhino. Demolisher shell from the Vindicator veers off of the Chimera and annihilates the Lord Commissar's squad. Everything else (that could) fires at the Stormraven, but does no damage.

The lone Sentry Vet failed his morale and ran off the board.

The Attack Bike charges the Sentinels and utterly fails at their "Hammer of Wrath" and normal attacks. When the Sentinels retaliated, they killed a marine. Last to attack was the Master of the Forge who, with his four attacks, caused all three Sentinels to explode (killing a Veteran who was really close to the action). With their consolidation, they headed back up the board.

It was at this point that James' team decided to surrender the match.

Final Score: 1-10Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18171116947446645884noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5017964646885683312.post-41239205106636297982014-09-30T09:53:00.001-07:002015-04-05T14:35:20.155-07:00BATTLE SCENARIO: Siege of AR-558Dominion Objective: Retake a communications array captured by Federation troops. The troops must be moved off the array before reinforcements arrive.

Enemy Assets:

A Federation ground team, originally numbering 150 personnel and commanded by a captain.

Friendly Assets:

Cloaked anti-personnel mines that were set at the array before it was captured.

A ground base, and dozens of personnel (between 50 and 100 Jem'Hadar).

History:

When Sisko and crew arrived from the Defiant, to deliver supplies, they find that Lieutenant Larkin is commanding the remaining 43 personnel after five months of repeated assaults.

After a random casualty, we find out about the 'Houdinis' (cloaked mines) that hide in subspace and reappear at random times.

Nog identified a group of Jem'Hadar while on a reconnaissance mission. His unit was attacked; Larkin was killed, and he barely escaped with his life.

Ezra and the field engineer was able to detect and take control of the Houdinis. At Sisko's order, they mined the valley that ran between the Jem'Hadar base and the array.

Surprisingly, the Jem'Hadar did what was expected of them, and walked through the valley. Dozens of them were killed by the mines before they started their war cry and berserk charge.

The defenders set up behind a series of barricades facing the opening to their position. This opening served as a chokepoint that attackers were expected to come through. They tried to catch the Jem'Hadar in the chokepoint with withering cross-fire, but were unable to lay down sufficient fire to keep them there.

The battle devolved into a brutal melee combat where most of the defenders (and all of the attackers) were slain. Reinforcements arrived not too long afterwards.

Could the Imperial Guard succeed where the Jem'Hadar failed?

First, we must define their assets. Since both sides had access to nothing but infantry weapons, the IG will be restricted to small-arms weapons.

The phase-cloaked mines are replaced with much better conventional mines. This new minefield would slow down the Federation troops, and might actually prevent the capture of the array.

Heavy weapons teams will not be allowed to field mortars since the objective to capture the array, and not to damage it.

If we disregard that the minefield could prevent the situation altogether, we can assume the Federation eliminated the rest of the mines in the area after capturing the array.

The most straightforward answer would be to have the heavy bolters pin down the defenders in their barricades before blanketing the area with frag grenades shoot out of grenade launchers. Anyone who survives the barrage is taken by the guardsman who rush the clearing when the barrage ends.

How would the Imperial Guard fare in place of the Federation?

First, we must define their assets. The heavy weapons teams have access to their full arsenal.

Because they firing out of the area, they don't fear causing damage to the array. Therefore, the IG can make liberal use of mortars. With forward scouts, the mortar can continuously fire on Jem'Hadar positions.

Any attempt by the Jem'Hadar to rush the chokepoint will run into the waiting guns of the heavy bolter teams. Another one or two heavy bolters posted outside of the clearing would fire as soon as those inside the clearing sound off; trapping the attackers in a perfect kill-zone.

Conclusions: The greater variety of infantry weapons and availability of small fragmentation weapons ensues the IG would have the advantage in either role. In place of the Jem'Hadar, they have more options than a frontal assault. In place of the Federation, their ability to fire indirectly and access to sustained fire weapons means they can hit the attackers without reprisal.

I give the Imperial Guard 2 for 2 points for this scenario.
It's been ages since I posted, I know. it will change soon. My old laptop has a fried motherboard, and a very hefty repair fee going on for it, so for now i'm using my 'acer Aspire 5515' and it is not the greatest. On top of that I moved and have a new job, it's been very stressful and time consuming. I work the night shift by the way. My plan for this weekend is to double down and get some more work done on my WH. Maybe do a squad or so. Truthfully when i look at my armies now, I cringe at just how much work I still have to do it. But with patience and a bit of hard work, I should be up and posting again in no time.
During the battle at the end I kept wondering how the Tau could handle the situation in place of the Separatists. Which is what inspired me to do this segment.

CIS Objective: Escape with as many ships and personnel as you can.

Enemy Assets:

Flotilla of Acclamators and warships.

Ground troops and armoured vehicles.

Couple hundred Jedi.

Friendly Assets:

Small flotilla of ships in orbit.

At least a million battle droids of various types.

Support of the native population.

History:

Upon hearing news of Kenobi's pending execution, Mace Windu took a group of Jedi to Geonosis while Yoda headed to Kamino.

The Jedi attacked the stadium without word of their arrival reached anyone. They proceeded to trap themselves in the arena surrounded by hordes of battledroids, and made no attempt to escape.

A fleet of Acclamators broke through the screen of ships in orbit so quickly that by the time anyone received news of the arrival, troops were already moving into formation on the planet's surface and LAAT-gunships were attacking several airfields and hangar bays in the area.

A tiny group of gunships (led by Yoda) saved the remaining Jedi at the arena.

The battledroids responded by rushing en masse from the underground factories to try and stall the clones on the plains while the rest of the Separatist escape the planet.

LAAT-gunships proceed to destroy much of the above ground infrastructure, enemy air units that do launch, armoured vehicles on the plains, and prevent more vehicles from reaching the battle.

SPHA-T artillery guns destroy one of the Trade Federation core ships and a few of the Techno Union commerce vessels.

Skywalker and Kenobi attempt to head off Dooku's escape.

Despite both of them and Yoda fighting against him, Dooku still managed to get off the planet.

The Grand Army of the Republic captures the planet of Geonosis and destroys the droid factories.

Could the Tau Empire succeed where the Separatist failed?

First, we must define their assets. The Geonosians would be replaced with Vespid, Kroot replacing the regular battledroids, and everything else being with Tau. Fleet assets are replaced with Tau Il'Porrui (Emissary) Class Cruisers, Demiurg Bastion Class and Stronghold Class Commerce Vessels.

Since the fleet assets are better equipped than in the original battle (not surprising considering the Separatist ships were converted freighters), the Acclamators would be delayed in reaching the surface. This gives time for a ship to give a warning to the ground forces. Thus giving the Tau more time to evacuate their materiel from the planet.

The Jedi in the arena would probably be all dead by the time reinforcements came, as well as the three prisoners.

Because of the increased time for the Acclamators to land, the Tau would be able to engage the clonetroopers as they were disembarking. The LAAT-gunships would also have a more difficult time in the air with planes already in the air.

Eventually, the clones would take the planet; but while also sustaining more casualties and stopping fewer enemies from escaping.

Flip side: How would the Tau Empire fare in place of the Clone Army?

First, we must define their assets. Instead of the flotilla of Acclamators and other ships, the Tau Empire would have Or'es El'lauth (Custodian) Class Battleships and Emissary Class Cruisers. Jedi are replaced by Ethereals, and the clones are replaced by Tau ground forces.

Simply put, this battle can not happen. The sequence or events requires that one party makes a journey from the center of the galaxy to the Outer Rim. This trip would take a Tau 20 years. The other trip is to the Halo Stars region of a satellite galaxy. Something that would take at least a century. By the time any Tau units show up at Geonosis, it would either be a Forge World or abandoned.

Conclusions: The Tau Empire would certainly succeed in place of the Separatist, thanks to the strength of their fleet. In place of the Republic, they wouldn't even be able to get to the planet for a battle to occur.

I give the Tau Empire 1 out of 2 points for this scenario.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18171116947446645884noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5017964646885683312.post-22251978639771187912014-08-11T05:40:00.001-07:002014-08-11T06:54:25.682-07:00Bit of AnalysisNeedless to say that there has been a lot said about this flier since the Dark Angels got their new codex. The ruling consensus about the Nephilim Jetfighter is that it is overpriced and ever bad at its stated role. But, is it really? That is what I intend to find out.

The fluff says that the Jetfighter only started being used by the Dark Angels in late M40 when they found an STC for an improved engine (which they have since starting calling the 'Lionheart engine'). It does make you wonder how bad the old engines if the "improved" ones still don't give the plane the 'fast' special rule like most other fliers do.

Over the skies of Piscina 4, three of these planes managed to kill over 48 Ork planes. On the world of Kundra, the Jetfighter provided cover for the Ravenwing by blasting apart various tanks and jet-bikes of the Eldar. So, the intended role of the Nephilim is that of a multi-role air superiority fighter/ground-attack craft. Seems like either the Space Marines or the writers never heard of dilution of focus.

For the stated price of 180 pts, you get a AV 11 HP3 flier with the starting wargear: Twin-linked Heavy Bolters (36",S5,AP4,Heavy 3), Twin-linked Lascannon (48",S9,AP2,Heavy 1), and six Blacksword Missiles(36",S6,AP4,Heavy 1). The only option available for it is to replace the lascannon with an avenger mega bolter (48",S6,AP4,Heavy 5).

Since most fliers in the game have AV10 or 11, these weapons seem good enough to contend with them. It appears that anything AV 12 or above is something the Jetfighter should not be shooting at. So, it is a bit baffling that the plane comes loaded with a lascannon (whose sole purpose is to take down heavy armor, something this plane has no business going up against).

Now, if I could make a very un-Space Marine-like suggestion. Focus on what the plane is actually good against and never take a lascannon. Sure, you'll miss out on being able to cause an explosion with a single shot; but against AV 10, you only had an 11.2% chance of that happening. Instead, what you should be focusing with this thing is trying to immobilize enemy vehicles.

Why immobilize? Because two immobilized results means the vehicle is wrecked. Also, because the Nephilim has the Unrelenting Hunter special rule: When shooting at enemy vehicles, a Nephilim can choose to treat any Weapon Destroyed results as Immobilised. Most people would want to ruin a weapon on the vehicle, but it doesn't lead to it dying any faster.

So, which one sounds better for that goal? A twin-linked heavy 1 shot, or a heavy 5 weapon? Add in two missiles and the heavy bolters, you have seven S6 and three S5 shots to wreck a light vehicle in a single shooting phase. That sounds something to believe in, unlike a single die roll.

Plus, the avenger mega bolter has another advantage over the lascannon. If there aren't any vehicles left for the Nephilim to shoot at, there are always infantry mobs. With anything that has 4+ armor, you have five potential kills vs. just one with the lascannon.

Back to the question from the top of this article. Is the Nephilim as bad as most forums make it out to be? No. There are a lot of people who compare it to the Stormraven Gunship, but that is where their arguments fall apart. Stormravens are heavyweights who have a whole slew of options to focus on very different targets. The Nephilim's main priority should be solely on light armor. Which it can excel at (if you leave the lascannon in the box).

Is it orverpriced? Yes. About 20 or 30 pts too expensive for its limited role. But, who knows, maybe all the over fliers will cost more in the future.

So, just remember, the Nephilim can wreak havok on light armor; and if you have it leap from target to target, it will prove to be a reliable support for the men on the ground. And, never, EVER, take lascannons on this plane.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18171116947446645884noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5017964646885683312.post-26489074885390099402014-08-10T10:33:00.000-07:002014-08-11T06:54:57.281-07:00I'M BACK!!!It's been a few months since my last post here. I have been busy with other writing projects. Now that I'm back I'll try to keep to a regular weekly schedule. So, some time today or tomorrow be on the lookout for the first of an article series called: Bit of Analysis.
In it, I'll be examining the fliers of the 41st Millennium; and how they translate to the tabletop. The very first article of this new series: Nephilim Jetfighter. See ya'll then.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18171116947446645884noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5017964646885683312.post-43116062799939398372014-05-31T08:09:00.003-07:002014-05-31T08:09:25.858-07:00Awful, Awful newsA few days ago, my PC suffered a fatal crash. Only today was I able to recover it, but not without doing a complete system reboot. Everything is gone. All the pictures. All my rough drafts. All of it. So, it will be a while before I can post again. Sorry folks. This nonsense was out of my control. ((P.S)) I just discovered when placing the picture eon this blog (See below) that I still have several of the old pictures uploaded to the Blogger site. Including the Next few Arrakian Accord parts. So. Cheers, I suppose.

Here's a picture to hopefully help:
Hey Folks! I got nominated for a Liebster Award, Courtesy of Colonel Scipio. From what I gather the award goes out to blogs who are small, and still in development to try and help them get up and out there. My thanks goes out to the Colonel, and all the support he has shown me in the months that I've known him. Seriously guys, he put up with about a thousand questions about this, that, and the other thing whenever I was confused. Thank you again, Colonel!

There are some guidelines for what an individual who is given a Liebster is supposed to do.

Copy and paste the award on your blog linking the blogger who has given it to you.

Pass the award to your top 11 blogs with less than 200 followers by leaving a comment on one of their posts to notify them that they have won the award and listing them on your own blog.

Sit back and bask in the warm fuzzy feeling that you have made someones day.

There is no obligation to pass the award on to someone else but it is nice if you take the time to do so.

The Q & A bit

Why did you start blogging? I saw a bunch of other mini's on the internet and thought: "Why not my minis?" That and I found that once I started blogging, organization came easier.

If you could change one thing about the wargaming hobby, what would it be? Remind people that wargaming is about having fun, not about being the meanest, loudest, SOB on the board.

What is best in life? The little moments that make you smile.

Do you want to live forever? Can't say I do. Only good thing would be to see how the world changes.

Fame or fortune? Fortune. I can share it easily with others and share the wealth

What miniature are you most proud of having painted? Umm.. My Thunder Dragon's Chapter master. I put a lot of work into it and it came out very proud.

How do you deal with burn out? I try and switch up what I'm doing. Currently, I'm working on my Space Marines over anything.

Why is a raven like a writing desk? Both are sturdy, and constantly making noises when you use them

Star Wars or Star Trek? Star Trek TOS, or the Star Wars EU. Grand Admiral Thrawn For the Win.

If you could only buy from one miniature company from now on, which one would it be? Games workshop. Fire Matt Ward, lower the cost of miniatures, and watch with happiness as more people come in and start up the hobby.

What is your favorite take out? Taco bell. I don't know if it counts as take-out, but I can't get enough from the stuff.

Finally, after a long period of delaying and procrastinating, I have completed 3/4ths of my Space Marines: The Thunder Dragons. In Total, I have roughly 80 Marines. I only have about 50 painted, and only 35 are present in the picture to the right.
I have names and ranks for them, I will fill out the list complete wit pictures when I finish my remaining Astartes.
The Fluff: Long ago in M.31 when the Lion ordered the Destruction of Caliban, A select few of Luther's followers were ordered to leave the planet and spread to the farthest reaches of Imperial Space to bring unite the true followers of the Emperor to be witness to the traitorous actions of the First Legion. Their Leader, Hector Apophys, acted as a shepherd to the lost flock that was now called "The Fallen", uniting them into a singular force that quickly vanished into the unknowns of space. It wasn't until M.38 in Abbadon's Ninth Black Crusade that an unknown Astartes Chapter was seen fighting alongside Imperial forces on Corillia against the traitor marines. These Astartes wore blood red power armour with white trim, white streaks in a warpaint fashion, and deep sea blue eye visors. In the field of battle these Astartes were fearless in their assaults on Abbadon's forces, often going to suicidal lengths to destroy their enemy. The only battle cries they cried were for a man named "Luther."
At the end of the crusade when Corillia was finally relieved by the Ultramarines, the Astartes vanished from the planet without a single trace of their being there.
In various conflicts following the Ninth Crusade, these same Red Warriors would appear and smite the enemies of the Imperium. It wasn't until M.40, when questioned by an Astartes from the Black Templars about their Origin that the a Red Warrior finally spoke to an outsider. "Who are you, Brother?" The Templar was said to ask.
To which the Thunder Dragon replied: "I am a Thunder Dragon, and I fight in the name of Truth and Revelation."
The Templar was confused. "Thunder Dragon? Who do you follow?"
The Thunder Dragon stood tall. "I serve the Emperor, and follow my Lord Hector."
My Chapter Master is equipped Artificer armour along with a Thunder Hammer. I wanted him to look more unique, so I used Grey Knight bits along with a Commander kit to formulate a special appearance. I trimmed him with gold and silver, and added a great many purity seals and other small trinkets that I feel really bring out the model. The banner to his left I hand painted, attempting to make a Watcher in the Dark holding a sword. Considering the freehand, I feel it turned out nicely. The man to his right is my Chapter Champion. I used a Deathwing shield and a Grey Knight sword to give the appearance of an old 14th Century knight. The two guys behind the Shield-Bearer and the Standard carrier are just holding Halbards, not finished painting at the time of this picture.

Anyway guys, hope you enjoyed the pictures and the fluff. Any questions, comments, or recommendations just leave a comment and I'll get back to you. Stay frosty out there!
During my absence, I've been quite busy, although not with writing. Sorry folks. To the right is a little something I threw together using spare parts. I don't have a name for him yet, although he could be used as an Inquisitor or as an Primarch. Originally it was my attempt at a Primarch, but The size ratio isn't right..

Recently I've acquired Dark Eldar, and some substantial upgrades to my Space marines. Including Five older model space marines, courtesy of Colonel Scipio, which have been folded into my Astartes quite well. Additionally, I've expanded my guard slightly, but I still have quite a bit to paint.

Anyways, I'm keeping busy, and hopefully next time I have a chance I'll upload some pics of my Dark Eldar. This is just a small post to keep you all semi-updated, so enjoy. Adios Amigos, Stay frosty out there.Vaeushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01796326406984257513noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5017964646885683312.post-57644514354667844632014-01-31T16:43:00.003-08:002014-01-31T23:11:31.161-08:00A brief look into last weekend: A collageFor those of you who don't know, I play airsoft actively. Airsoft is a military simulation sport in which two teams of multiple people use tactics, communication, and strategy to best the other team.
Our squad (that's myself, Cameron, Alex, Taylor, William, And Jokob) Were assigned to 2nd platoon for the course of the game. The objective of 2nd platoon was essentially search and destroy. I'm not doing an after action report, just sharing some pictures. Hope you all enjoy
The game was taking place at an old farm. Around 250 acres to play on, about a hundred players. Fifty players each team. Two day game with night-fighting allowed.
A river divided the farm, and thick forest overgrew around the fields of the farm. There were a few abandoned buildings within the forest as well.
Several times. It goes into light detail of the various suits of Vatarian plate Armour. On a side note, expect more posts soon.

Mark I-A - The Vatarian Mark I-A suit of armour is a reliable design from early M.37. It is expensive, but is durable, easy to maintain, and strong enough to withstand most types of ballistic weaponry.Additionally, the power cables on the suit are covered by a light carapace coating. The joints are also reinforced with additional padding to protect the wearer from shrapnel. It's internal systems give it the ability to track targets, provide multiple vision settings to see in a higher spectrum, and allows the wearer to patch into local computer and navigation networks. More recent upgrades have increased the vox range to nearly a kilometer without having to tap into an external vox link.

The suit also has capacity to go into space for limited time. The wearer can comfortable stay in an airless/toxic environment for about forty five minutes without having to find another air supply. Along with the internal air unit, the suit also has mag-boots to allow the wearer to walk in a Zero-G area. This is the suit preferred by spacers, assassins, and units on long-range missions that expect little to no supply.

Mark I-B - The Mark I-B suit has all the aforementioned capabilities, with the edition of an improved logic engine. This suit can track multiple targets at once, provide an improved HUD for the wearer, as well as increased motor units that allow the wearer to better move around and fight.

Mark II - The Mark II suit loses some of its internal systems, but has gains in mobility. Now unable to track more than one target at a time, it now can allow the wearer to run faster, just higher, and have overall better gyroscopic control.

The upgrades also mean that Zero-g movement has become much simpler with the addition of Mag-gauntlets. However, this comes with a sacrifice: The suit is only able to operate in airless environments for half of an hour. The power consumption of the suit is also led to exposed power cables along the chest and back. Normally the wearer of the suit would be a scout, a medic, or a light infantryman.

Mark III - The Mark III suit was developed in mid M.38 as a replacement for the aging, and flawed Mark I and II suits. It has an extended battery life to allow to the wearer to operate for several days without having to recharge. It's internal systems were improved to allow the wearer to track multiple targets at once, have an integrated HUD system that connects directly to the user's weaponry, improved communication and navigations modules, and a wireless logic tool that can hack into various frequencies and signals. The power cables on this suit have been covered by several layers of Carapace plating, and the joins have been reinforced with flak/carapace fibers to protect the wearer from explosive and ballistics damage.

This suit also has external hardpoints to mount various devices and equipment, further freeing the wearer from having to carry cumbersome bags and pouches. There is also an optional Vox Caster unit that can be mounted on the back of the suit, but this would definitely limit the wearer's mobility and maneuverability. This suit is preferred by Commanders, Vanguard Units, and Technicians.Vaeushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01796326406984257513noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5017964646885683312.post-16421106768326838722014-01-15T11:19:00.001-08:002014-01-15T11:20:46.999-08:00Battle of Charger Pass Pt. 1Planet: Arrakia
Location: 170 km northeast of Leton City; 15 km away from Dusse Port

A week after Leton City fell to a surprise attack of Black Legion and ork auxiliaries, the last vestige of still-loyal citizens was decimated. The PDF on the planet were still reeling, and unable to effectively coordinate a counter-attack. This opportunity was seized by the ork forces who fractured into individual warbands. They started reeking havoc across the main habitat region between the Sawtooth Mountains out west and the east coast of the Wave Dune Ocean.
By the time an encircling army was finally able to contain the enemy to the capitol, the orks had spread beyond the local area. The most immediate ork concerns for the defenders was a massive horde of greenskins headed north to where the Field Marshall's last known position. The Thunder Dragons send a force up north to lead the regional PDF in intercepting them.
They risked the only five Predators their chapter still had to eliminate the main ork assault estimated to contain close to 300 tanks. Captain Kaga of the 4th Company decided the best course of action was to set an ambush at Charger Pass along the stretch of Leto Highway.

The dust plumes rose high above the stretches of the Red Mane Plains. Through the rangefinders, the Thunder Dragons' three Predator tanks (Prophet of Truth, Prophet of Mercy, and Prophet of Regret) spotted the bikers ahead of the battlegroup. "Regret, begin the attack," the commander of Truth stated.
Regret was the only Annihilator-pattern tank the chapter possessed armed with sponson-mounted lascannons. It roared towards the highway the orks were using. Constant adjustments to their targeters ensured that they were ready to fire as the tank slid to a stop over a kilometer away from the road.
As soon as the bikes were within range, autocannons opened fire followed by a salvo of energy bolts. Three of the four shots hit true; the bikers raced off the pavement in pursuit. Regret moved back while the guns continued to blast away; more bikes exploding along the way.
Now in range, the other two fired their autocannons. When the orks got close enough, the heavy bolters started shooting as well. Regret passed the others and turned around. Its guns swivelled around to continue their barrage. Mercy and Truth proceeded to follow whilst keeping the autocannons trained on the bikers. Unfortunately for Mercy, orks caught up with it and started pounding the treads and sides of the tank. One nob armed with a power klaw snapped the support for one of the heavy bolter sponsons. It was quickly forgotten in the chase.
Back at the highway, smoke screen provided by the bikes dissipated. A massive armoured column of ork tanks rolled out of the dust cloud. They barrelled on ahead even as the road became a valley in a dense region of hills. An explosion on the underside of the lead tank took them by surprise. Shots boomed from the surrounding hillsides and plumes of flame and dirt leapt up all around them.
Cries of WAAAAGH!!! were drowned out by the volley by explosions in their midst. The orks started wildly firing their guns every-which-way they could. Thus, the first major armoured battle of the Arrakian Campaign began.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18171116947446645884noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5017964646885683312.post-4262437984602167712013-12-31T14:48:00.001-08:002013-12-31T14:54:01.711-08:00(NSFW) Tales of Infinite Mischief Ep. 3The Space Marines who waited at the armoury doors had black armour with white aquilas or skulls. Their knees plates down to their boots were a dark red color and the helmets were a pale green. One poised a missile launcher to fire at the Valkyrie while the others aimed their boltguns or a bolt pistol. They allowed the gunship to land on the sky pad without incident.
Grim shut off the engines and got out of the gunship. He walked over to the Space Marines with arms wide. Wolfe nervously sat at the heavy bolter emplacement, thumbs hovering over the triggers. "What's the tech-priest thinking?" he whispered.
"Hopefully, preventing another friendly fire incident," Millard directed the last few words at Jax. Tense minutes went by as the tech-priest talked with the one wielding a bolt pistol and chainsword. Finally, he gestured for the rest of the group to come over.
"Captain McCormick of the Steel Nightmares task force on this planet." He shook Jax's hand. "Gulliman was persuading me that you were here to kill the traitorous Hive Governor. He's locked up inside the armoury."
"Why has he not been punished yet?" Titus asked.
"Those blast doors are protecting him. This squad secured the only entrance to the place, but lack the equipment to punch through the door. I've recalled a squad from down below to bring a meltagun."
"We might be able to get in there," Jax stated.
"I was just about to mention the air duct. It's big enough to allow small people through, but too small for even my scouts to move in it."
"We'll take things from here then." They headed over to the giant hole in the wall where the grate used to be. A Space Marine lifted Jax up to the entrance. Wolfe went up after them. Garvel was about to go when he noticed only Titus was with him. "Why aren't the rest of you coming?"
"I am too big to fit in there," Gulliman explained.
"You can't get me in another confined space that quickly," Tybalt replied. Millard was on the other side of the marine squad talking with a boy and girl younger looking than he was, smoking a lho-stick all the while.
"Get going assassin; we don't have time to dawdle. You need to get your hands dirty for once," Titus said as he shoved Garvel forward. The assassin got lifted into the vent.
"Now put me up there gently, like a good servant," Titus ordered the marine. The giant of a person threw Titus so hard at the opening that his face got buried in Garvel's but. A vicious shove sent the assassin sliding into the person in front of him. "You will pay for this indignity assassin."
The quartet proceeded along the vent in as noisy a manner as they could. Jax had his face smashed into the grate at the end so hard that it popped out, and everybody fell onto the floor. A slow clap accompanied their efforts to get back on their feet.
"To think that these people are whom the Inquisitor sent to kill me." Jax lunged for cover and peeks over the box of grenades. The Hive Governor was dressed in a overly long robe of purple and gold. More troopers like those they met in the dreg quarters earlier were arrayed around him. They were overshadowed by the presence of someone in the back corner.
"Like I said, she became fearful of the power you could wield," the figure replied.
"Anybody would be," the governor winked, revealing his dark purple eye shadow. "Guards, prepare these wretches for sacrifice. Slannesh will simply love the tribute I'm about to offer him."
Hellrifles blast at the wall behind their position. Titus moved a knife to in his jacket sleeve before he stands up, arms raised. "I'll do as you wish," he said.
He walked toward the governor, and knelt down in front of him. "Captain Titus! How good it is to see you again. I feared you were still here when I ordered the Arbites to be sacrificed."
"You had them killed?" Titus asked.
"Of course I did; they refused to follow me. I can not have such impenitence from people who are beneath me in station. But, you are one of the few noble-blooded in this sector. I'd hate to lose anyone who is actually worth my attention."
"I am honoured by such words. And am relieved to hear I no longer have to deal with the Arbites of lower standing or lower class than me."
"Interesting to hear that from you. Do you desire to become a willing sacrifice to Slannesh? To be taken into the bosom of the Prince of Pleasure?"
"I do!" He bowed his head to the ground. The Hive Governor knelt down, raised Titus' head while removing the hat; and kissed him on the forehead. A bright pink lipstick mark was left after he withdrew.
The governor was handed a knife from one of his men. "I will make sure your death is the most beautiful of them all today."
Titus whipped his knife into place and stabbed the governor in the side of the head before his own throat could be slit. Hellrifles fired on him, but Titus propped the corpse to cover him during the retreat. Jax and Wolfe threw grenades from the nearby containers. Explosions ripped the enemy troopers apart.
Within seconds, the firefight was over. The remaining kill team member was hit with a boltgun shell from behind. His killer stepped from the shadows, revealing a techmarine in pale light-green armour. A symbol of an eye with a sword tip pupil imposed over a downward pointing arrow marked his chest plate.
"Big Eye!" Wolfe gasped.
"Thank you for taking care of the governor. Better he's dead before having a chance to become a sticky situation later," the techmarine said.
"We'll take you down for everyone you caused here!" Jax yelled before he unloaded his autogun on the enemy. The rounds bounced harmlessly off the techmarine's armour.
"How pathetic." Big Eye touched the temple of his helmet and teleported away. Wolfe let out a sigh of relief. "I think its time we let the others inside," he stated.
Garvel worked on the door controls while the others rummaged through the contents of the room. The doors hissed open; allowing the others to join in the pilfering.
After half an hour, everyone was outfitted with Vatarian Heavy Plate battlesuits and more heavy weapons for the Valkyrie. Only when the room was violently shaking did the group cease what they doing. Gulliman headed outside to observe to goings-on. A massive explosion occurred very close to the outskirts of the hive city.
"We need to get out of here, NOW!" He sprinted for the gunship as the others came out. Another explosion shook the entire complex, knocking everyone off their feet. They scrambled to the Valkyrie as its engines flared to life. A slow takeoff preceded the frantic attempt to escape the orbital bombardment. Massive shells fell down around them as the gunship raced out of the atmosphere, many of the just acquired contents sliding out the back opening.
Over the private vox channel, Gulliman said, "Get your suits on their own air supply. We're about to break orbit."
Everything in the compartment started floating around when the gunship got into space. A vessel nearby opened its docking bay for the Valkyrie. Gulliman eased the plane through the door without too much hassle. Once the ship landed and they were all on ship's air did anyone leave the Valkyrie.
Outside, a commissar was waiting for them. "I'm here to bring you worthless sods before my mother," the commissar said as she turned and left the bay, "And welcome to the Breaking Dawn."
The group caught up to her and Jax, having removed his helmet, went up to her and asked, "Hey sugar-tits, what's your name?"
She kicked him in the crouch so hard that the armour was dented afterwards. A swift punch immediately followed, breaking Jax's arm. Millard scooped his brother up and helped him walk down the corridor.
"So, not only are you great at maiming people, but you back it up with a smoking hot body and a great butt," Titus said. The faceplate for his helmet was quickly smashed by her fist.
"Before anyone else asks, I am Commissar Raege," she stated, straightening her uniform. She led them through the confines of the ship without any incident. After three decks of travel, they arrived at their destination. It was a replica of a throne room with two chairs atop a dais. One large, metal, and golden in colour sat at the center of the display.
Inquisitor McDowell sat in the small wooden seat in front and off to the side of the empty centerpiece. "Out of all the initiates I sent down there, I never imagined it would the ones I had the least amount of faith in who would accomplish the task. It's a sad day for the Inquisi..."
"That's it! I've had enough of this!" Millard yelled as he stormed forward. Jax lied where he was dropped by his brother. "You can not just abduct anyone you want to do your job for you! WHAT GIVES YOU THE EMPEROR-DAMNED rig..."
Millard was silenced by a single shot from an infernus pistol. His head melted in an instant. "MILLARD!" Wolfe and Jax screamed.
The Inquisitor stood up, silencing the group. "The rest of your lives is now dedicated to protecting the God-Emperor's realm to the best of your ability. That is all he asks of his holy Inquisitors, and now of you."
She left the room, followed shortly by the commissar.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18171116947446645884noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5017964646885683312.post-22943008382416525262013-12-22T16:12:00.002-08:002013-12-22T21:11:06.446-08:00(NSFW) Tales of Infinite Mischief Episode 2 Part 2"Who are you, and why can I hear you without an earpiece?" the Arbite questioned.
"I am Inquisitor McDowell, and I had drafted each of you to be my Acolytes," she exclaimed, "Each of you have skills that could be put to great use as part of the Inquisition, and it is easier to exert control over you because you have no choice in the matter.
Jax Arkana, you have death warrants on your head for 37 different planets. Wolfe Arkana, you were convicted of heresy for attacking Arbites in 15 different sub-sectors."
"I will exercise their punishment then," the Arbite piped up. He whipped his pistol at Jax's head. A laspistol and lascannon pointed back at his.
"I wouldn't try that if I were you, twinkle toes," Wolfe said.
"You mess with one Arkana, you mess with all Arkanas," Millard added. All four of them collapse as if they were shocked.
"As you can see, I took the liberty of having shock collars surgically installed in each of you; along with your left eyes and ears so I can see and hear everything that ya'll are doing." She released the four from the shock effect.
After a moment of composing himself, the Arbite asked, "What gives you the Emperor-given right to..." He gets shocked again.
"I am an Inquisitor; that gives me the right."
"Why am I here then?"
"Because Cpt. Titus Harlock, I need an Acolyte that can blend in with the well-off of society. Your family has connections to the Imperial Guard, planetary governors in their debt. And, you are very easy to blackmail into coercion."
"That's all well-and-good for them, but I haven't done anything to warrant the Inquisition's attention; and I haven't committed any heresy. So, why I am here?" the tech-priest questioned.
"You were easy to acquire Midkiff. You were about to kicked out and executed by the Machine Cult for the crime of trying to have sex with a heavy bolter." Everyone else has their eyes pop open at that suggestion.
"That is completely untrue, for one thing, the barrel on that thing was too small to do anything with."
Garvel waves his hands in a vain attempt to repel that thought. "If we're done with all of that, can we focus on the task at hand? Umm, what is our assignment here Inquisitor?"
"I was going to have you all investigate the possibility of the Hive Governor going heretical, but circumstance has forced my hand. The uprising started at the behest of the Hive Governor; killing millions of the Emperor's loyal subjects before the day was out. The Arbitrators in the hive were killed to the last person. Even the Vatarian XI Regiment could do little against them. But, the Dark Eldar took advantage of the situation and slaughtered the regiment. Now, the Blood Angels are here to purge the hive city. And the Steel Nightmares have shown up within the last three weeks.
Simply put, your new mission is to kill the Hive Governor for his crime against the Imperium."
"I will execute the heretic myself," Titus said through gritted teeth. The Inquisitor decided that was a good enough reason to stop shocking him. When he recovered, he straightened out his uniform. "How are we going to get out of here now."
"We can try to get a Valkyrie working," Jax replied. He looked to the tech-priest to see if it was possible.
"I'll have to check the condition of them both to see if it can be done," he stated. Grim started rummaging through the remains with assistance from Garvel and Wolfe. Jax heard something approaching and reacted quickly enough to avoid splinter pistol fire.
Two Dark Eldar Helions flew through the area; one nearly off Tybalt's head. Those who weren't preoccupied fired back. Millard's lascannon shot blew up one of the gliders, and the Helion tumbled into a vat of molten metal. The other swung back around leaped at Jax. It backhanded him unconscious before another shot from Millard took its head off.
Jax took awhile to wake up and went immediately to swiping the dead guy's weapons. Wolfe joined the action, scavenging a splinter rifle for himself. A crackle of static from the radio of the kill-team caught everyone's attention.
...orces are to withdraw....hive-city within twelve hours...lood Angel strike crui...level the whol..........Imperial forces are......twelve hours.
"Robot, we need to get out of here, soon!" Titus exclaimed.
"I am not a robot you imbecile, I am a tech-priest of Mars. And I can get this thing working if you jackasses would actually do something," Grim stated.
Everybody leapt into action, except for Titus, trying to fix the damage one of the Valkyries had sustained. Grim directed the project whenever he wasn't busy himself. Five hours later, the Valkyrie looked better than new; and they stripped the other of any parts that could be taken, including gun emplacements.
Grim did a test to see if the gunship was still air worthy before letting the others stow the spare parts and guns on it. Jax approached the cockpit, sat down in one of the seats, and tried to grab the flight stick in front of him. Grim quickly slapped his hands away and yelled, "ONLY I CAN TOUCH KAREN'S CONTROLS RIGHT NOW!"
"Karen? Who's Karen?"
"She is the Valkyrie. She gave permission only to me to fly her." Jax slammed the door behind him. "I think the tech-priest wants to fuck the gunship."
"Of course he does; he's a robot," Titus interjected.
"I AM NOT A ROBOT YOU WITLESS BABOON!"
The Valkyrie lifted up towards the hole in the ceiling. They a scene of mass carnage when they got beyond the slums. Cultists and dregs butchering innocent people while Dark Eldar and Imperial Guardsman fire indiscriminately into the crowds. Blood Angels leapt high in the sky above it all as their bolters tore everything apart down below.
Engines flared up to propel the gunship away from the scene; Helions pursuing close behind. Wolfe and Millard man the guns on the sides and open fire on their pursuers; Jax ran to the cockpit and jumped on the vox. "Any friendly imperial units, this is General Jax Arkana of the Vatarian 3rd Regiment; we have Dark Eldar all around us and we need support."
"This is Captain Tycho of the Blood Angels 3rd Company, what is your business here General?"
"We're here for the Hive Governor."
"Anyone who is trying to protect the traitor will die with him." Hunters and Stalkers fired on the Valkyrie. Missiles streaked past and shells exploded all around.
"Hah! Emperor's Finest; certainly, the Emperor's Finest Fuck-ups." Jax followed up with a slew of other insults denouncing the honor of the entire Blood Angels chapter. Yet more missiles were aimed at the Valkyrie as Grim had to yank and juke the gunship all about to avoid the incoming fire. Titus grabbed a heavy bolter and shot down all of the missiles from the back of the compartment where a hatch should be.
Jax switched channels on the vox caster, hailing anyone else who could answer. Eventually, someone did. "Left-tenant Carpenter here; we heard your call for help. We'll draw the Space Marines' fire away from you, sir."
"May the Emperor be with you, Lieutenant," Jax replied.
The Valkyrie opened up with every gun it had causing a hole to the outside to be blown in the wall. A prolonged boost to lose anybody else, and the group was free of the hive city. As they headed to the highest parts of the hive, they couldn't help but notice the massive Imperator-class Titan firing its weapons on the city.
After a brief discussion they deemed the best course of action was to head to the armoury first to prepare to assault the titan. A few brief minutes later, the Valkyrie headed for a final approach to the armoury runway. But, a group of Space Marines was already waiting for them.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18171116947446645884noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5017964646885683312.post-72878432464853777782013-12-22T11:51:00.000-08:002013-12-22T11:51:15.805-08:00(NSFW) The Tales of Infinite Mischief Episode 2 Part 1With a hail of laspistol fire having just injured Jax, the pysker Tybalt tapped into the Immaterium. Barely able to cast his power, but, his success was met with the silence of enemy las fire. "Stupid gun's jammed!" one of the dregs cried out. Everyone else threw their laspistols off the side of the alcove to the distant floor below. With a great yell, they charged at the group. Jax dropped to the ground as the others into postion to take aim. They put up enough fire to slow the dregs down, but hardly of the shots were hitting them. Sounds of a turbines reverberated across the expanse as Garvel noticed the approach of two Valkyrie gunships.
He shoved Wolfe and Tybalt down as the guns started firing at the position. Any remaining dregs were torn apart by the machine gun fire. Jax spotted a black figure on a glider toss a grenade into the back hatch of one of the gunships. The thing followed the resulting explosion by chucking another grenade up the engine of the same Valkyrie. A bigger explosion tore the wing right off, and caused the gunship to smash into the other one sending them both crashing to the floor below.
The glider swooped towards the alcove as the figure checked to see if any were still alive. Jax unleashed a full-auto burst at the entity, but failed to hit anything. With a smile on its mutilated ashen face, it threw another grenade. Everyone jumped up and bolted across the narrow walkaway of someone's former home. The creature laughed the entire time as he flew after them.
Garvel was the first to reach the elevator, but had to wait for the others to show up to get it open. They rushed inside, Wolfe providing covering fire. But, he got riddled with splinter shards. Jax pulled his brother in as the enemy stepped off his glider.
Doors closed and the elevator headed up. "What was that filthy xeno?" Tybalt asked.
"Dark Eldar," the reply came from Garvel.
An explosion sounded above and violently shook the elevator. It was soon followed by the sounds of snapping wires and the box plummeted down the shaft. After everyone recovered from the impact, the group found out that doors couldn't be opened. "How are we supposed to get out?" Garvel asked.
"We're just going to have to wait here for someone to spring us out," Jax answered.
Wolfe was patched up as best as they could manage during the five hour internment in the elevator. Finally, the sounds of footsteps came nearby. Jax instinctively started tapping a call for help in guard battlecode.
"Who's in there?"
"General Jax Arkana of the Vatarian 3rd Regiment. We're trapped in this Emperor-forsaken place. Now. GET. US. OUT OF HERE!"
"Jax! What are you doing?" Garvel whispered.
"Trust me. I've got a plan," Jax whispered back.
"Hang on while we find a way to get these doors open."
While the unknown people worked to get them out, Jax had Garvel carve a general's insignia into Jax's chest plate.
After a laborous effort, the doors were pryed apart. Jax stepped out and was met with a laspistol aimed at his face. "I think you're lying to my men about you are," the sergeant said.
Jax straightened up his armor and stood tall before yelling, "How dare you threaten an appointed General of His Holy-Emperor's Imperial Guard. Are you going to allow your sergeant to commit such an atrocious act of heresy?"
The kill-team troopers look around at each other before firing on their sergeant.
One stepped forth and saluted. "Sorry for the sarge's over-zealousness."
"You're all forgiven, now get me and my men out of here."
"Right away, sir." Jax walked by the kill-team as their new leader saluted him again. The rest of the group was helped out of the elevator, except for Tybalt who had to struggle to climb out. "If you'll follow us General, we'll escort you out of this dump."
The kill-team led the group through a winding trail amongst the vast amount of rubble and ruins. Jax learned from them that they were sent by the Hive Governor to purify the lower levels of all life, stating that everyone down there to all be considered heretics.
A quarter-hour of walking time ended in a clearing beyond the wreckage of a couple of Valkyries. A big carriage with sturdy cables lead to a hole in the ceiling. "Right this way, sir."
The group was about to step into the carriage as shots rang out from behind them. Dark Eldar emerged from the rubble and killed the troopers. They approached with splinter rifles leveled.
Suddenly, another drop pod crashed through the ceiling and onto the lid of one of the nearby cauldrons. It tore most of cables for the carriage apart on its way down. Everyone ducked as the cable dropped down upon them.
The hatches for the drop pod popped open, but only three of the occupants were on the side facing away from the molten metal. The three survivors hit a pile of rubble on the side and rolled down to the floor.
But, the group was too preoccupied battling the Dark Eldar to notice. Shots zipped between the two sides with hardly any shots connecting. One of the eldar was repeated hit in her left shoulder. She was the first to go down. Jax and Wolfe were growing increasingly frustrated as their guns jammed one after another.
Blasts of las energy barreled past the group. The rest of the Dark Eldar quickly died; one of them lost its head while the rest of its body was set on fire.
"Looks like I needed to save both of you; yet again," the fresh-faced kid behind them said.
"Millard!" Wolfe exclaimed. He ran up and hugged his kid brother. The other two people started to stir. "Where the bloody-warp are we?" the Arbite asked.
"Planet Vatar, Hive Edgeer, dreg quarters," Garvel answered.
"Why am I down here? This place is completely beneath my station."
The other, a tech-priest, introduced himself as "Grim" Gulliman. But, nobody seemed to pay attention as the Arbite got into a heated argument with Wolfe. Guns were swiftly drawn, and the Arbite found an autogun and a lascannon aimed at his head from the other two Arkana brothers.
A screeching noise blared in their ears; immediately ending their squabble. "I don't need anymore of my recruits to pointlessly die in this mission," the cold feminine voice stated in their ears.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18171116947446645884noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5017964646885683312.post-24330070899412729432013-12-09T20:44:00.002-08:002013-12-09T20:44:58.426-08:00Tales of Infinite Mischief; Dramatis PersonæJax Arkana
Age: 36
Height: 6'1
Quirk: Outrageous hair
Biography: A very commanding, yet easily angered person. While not the eldest of the Arkana family, he has certainly taken up the role of mentor to the Arkanas, giving him valuable leadership experience. He has also managed to get the death sentence on thirty seven planets, and has arrest warrants on a dozen more and has since been abducted by the Inquisition while serving with the III Vatarian Legion on Novis Prime. Seeing as he was as good as a dead man already, the =I= figured no one would miss him.

Wolfe Arkana
Age: 41
Height: 6'4
Quirk: Set of piercings
Biography: Wolfe Arkana is the eldest of the Arkana family serving in the Imperial Guard. He has a notoriously short temper, and has always been known to have intense bouts of randomized violence. His inability to focus on the most simplest of tasks resulted in him remaining the rank of a lowly guardsmen despite his age and combat experience. He also has an incredibly low I.Q. rating. He was abducted by =I= when the agent responsible for kidnapping Jax mistook Wolfe for him. He was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Tybalt Arl
Age: 35
Height: 5'9
Quirk: Filed Teeth
Biography: Tybalt Arl was born on a Feral world without a name. As a child he was touched by the warp in a way which resulted in his becoming a Psyker. Once taken into the black ships, he vanished for ten long years before reemerging to serve the =I=

Garvel Drake Ramirez
Age: 35
Height: 5'8
Quirk: Devotional scar
Biography: Garvel Ramirez was born on an Imperial world and was quickly brought up to praise the Emperor for all that existed. Growing up he began to learn special talents that allowed him to move undetected throughout most places, and eventually he taught himself how to be completely self sufficient. He was twenty two when he took his first assassination job. He honed his killing skills for thirteen years before being abducted by the =I=. They had taken him after setting up a pseudo-contract for him to take out. When he went to meet his handler, he was instead met by a tranquilizer.

"Captain" Titus Harlock
Age: 36
Height: 6'3
Quirk: Gunshot wound
Biography: Titus Harlock was born to a very militant royal family on Vatar. He is very prideful, and sees anyone else as an inferior to him. When he reached the Enlistment age, instead of joining the guard he joined the Arbites. Using his family's connections, he quickly advanced to the rank of Captain, where he gained a reputation of ruthlessness, had accusations of corruption, but also an infallible sense of "justice". The =I= took him during a raid into the undercity by intercepting his Valkyrie and knocking out all that travelled with him.

Midkiff Gulliman
Age: 32
Height: 5'9
Quirk: Grimy Skin
Biography: Midkiff was to be a great Techpriest, as his father/creater was before him. However, a scandal involving a Heavy Bolter had him kicked out of the Academy. To this day he insists that "He did not have sexual relations with that weapon." Instead of disappearing into the backwater dregs of the Imperium, the =I= took him in. Their reasoning was that if anyone could appreciate technology and make it work to it's best potential, it was Midkiff.

Millard Arkana
Age: 28
Height: 6'1
Quirk: Facial scars
Biography: Millard is the second youngest of the Arkana brothers. He is very intelligent and is afraid of very little. Because of his intellegence, he is often considered the most level-headed of the brothers, and is considered very easy to talk to. He is also an unparalleled marksmen compared to other guardsmen his age. The =I= figured since they have two of his brothers, might as well take him as well. When they discovered how diplomatic and clear-headed he could be, the agent responsible for ringing him in was rewarded greatly for his choice.
The guardsmen Jax and Wolfe Arkana, Tybalt Arl the Psyker from a Feral World, and
Garvel Ramirez the Assassin were shaken out a drug induced sleep by the impact

of the drop pod slamming into the ferrocrete floor. Jax Arkana cleared his

throat "Mates, It looks like we've been Shanghai'd."

Wolfe coughed roughly before agreeing "Too right, brother." Two doors of the drop pod hissed open and Jax and Wolfe stumbled out. As they looked over, Tybalt and Garvel fell out of the pod next to them, clearly unused to the roughness of a combat drop.

The room that the drop pod had wedged itself in had only one door, covered by a sheet

that loosely hung in the frame. On the floors were more sheets that were clearly

in use as beds, with rocks being used as a form of pillow. Whoever lived here

was very poor.

"Where the sod are we? and Who the Sod are you two?" Garvel demanded.

"Jax" Jax answered, followed by Wolfe, "And Wolfe Arkana, III Vatarian Legion. Who the hell are you?"

Tybalt scoffed. "Tybalt Arl, Blade for hire. This is Garvel Ramirez." The

Psyker simply nodded at them.

"Well Tybalt." Jax said, "There are men trapped in this drop pod. It's wedged

into ferrocrete."

Garvel spoke up "There is combat going on nearby. I suggest if we are to help

them we make haste."

The group stood and listened. Sounds of Autoguns and Lasguns trading fire

echoed into the room. The occasional battle cannon would explode followed by

smaller sub explosions.

"There is only one thing we can do." Jax said as he surveyed the drop pod. "We have to put them out of their misery. Anyone have any grenades?" No one spoke up.

"Alright, lets see if we can rig it to explode then." He knelt at the pod's control console and began to pry into it with his knife. There was a bright flash as he was jolted back by electricty.

"Well" Garvel said after a short while "Looks like they're stuck in there."

"Looks like it" Jax agreed as he stood up and brushed himself off. He then leanred against the doorway and peeked outside.

They were in a room that connected to a catwalk. Far below there stood massive couldrons of bubbling magma. Just visible were figures that appeared to be in intense combat.

"Catwalk looks clear. Lets head out." He tore the sheet down that covered the doorway and put it on as a makeshift cloak, then proceeded to pull part of it up as a hood.

"What's that for?" Wolfe asked.

"Just in case. If anything happens we could use it as a tournicate, or paint it up as makeshift camoflauge. " Jax replied as he stepped onto the catwalk followed by the rest of the group.

To their left and right the catwalk continued onward.

"Which way?" Tybalt wondered aloud

"Let's let the Emperor decide." Jax replied and pulled a single throne from his belt and tossed it in the air.

It landed heads-up. "We go right."

As they proceeded down the catwalk, five men dressed in rags approached them carrying battle-axes. The two groups stood and stared at each other before one of the men shouted out "Blood for the blood god!"

"Wait wait wait wait wait!" Jax shouted, and the cultists stopped for a moment. "We're with you guys! Been up here hunting for those damn imperials! Blood for the blood god!"

The cultists talked among themselves for a moment before replying "Kill them! Skulls for the skull throne!"

"Well shit." Garvel stated, and raised his lascarbine to shoot at the oncoming attackers. He clipped one in the arm and made him flinch some. Tybalt opened fire with his snub pistol but the shot went wide. Jax fired his autogun at the oncoming attackers and a miracle happened. One of the rounds detonated a grenade that was on the belt of one of the cultists. Four out of the five cultists were flayed into a red, gorey mess. The remainind cultist continued to charge forward, completely ignoring the fact that his comrades had fallen. Garvel fired at him again but the shot went wide, then proceeded to taunt the cultist mercilessly.

"Were you born this slow, or are you just that out of shape?"

The cultists growled a response and continued to charge him.

Tybalt was silent for a moment before lowering his trousers. He then began to flop his junk around while shouting "Helicopter!"

(After a brief game derailment regarding whether or not we are allowed to helicopter the cultists, it was concluded that it would take a full turn to do.)

The cultist skid to a halt and covered his eyes. Jax took the oppurtinity to stab his bayonette through through the jaw and up through the skull of the cultist. After using his boot to scrape the cultists off the bayonette, he chuckled.

Garvel joined in the chuckling. "Tybalt fucked with his mind, You literally mind fucked him."

"Fitting death for a cultist." Wolfe added.

After continuing down the catwalk, the group came upon a staircase.

"Well gents'" Garvel began "It looks like we've quite a long walk down ahead of us."

Unbeknownst to the group, they were on the seventy sixth floor. They walked down seventy five flights of stairs to the bottom floor. Once at the bottom Jax, Garvel, and Tybalt all collapsed in a series of pants and gasps. "Fuck. Fuck. That was something awful." Wolfe could only throw up as he gasped for air.

"Never" Jax began to catch his breathe "Again."

As the group was still catching its breathe, a low rumbling filled the chamber and everything seemed to shake slightly.

"Oh no" Wolfe muttered

"No, no, no, no." Jax agreed

"What?" Garvel asked

As if one cue a Leman Russ Battle Tank rounded the corner and began firing battle cannon shells at them. Missing several which resulted in a few of the magma couldrons being cracked open.

"Just can't get a break, can we?" Jax shouted as they began to run back up the flights of stairs. Suddenly, a lascannon tore into the side of the leman russ and caused it to explode. The explosion fully knocked over one of the magma cauldrons, spilling its contents over all over the ground and melting the lower levels of the stairs.

"Well. That went well." Garvel stated.

"Mhmm." Tybalt agreed.

"You know, I used to work in these factory dregs as a lad. Every twelve floors is an access door to a freight elevator." Wolfe remebered.

"Yeah, thats right. We can get to a freight elevator and hitch a ride to the surface." Jax Agreed.

So they climbed up to the twelfth floor and began following the catwalk again.

"Wait!" Tybalt cried, startling the rest of the group. "There are people ahead!"

Jax raised his Autogun and crept along the catwalk. "Do you sense they are hostile?"

Tybalt was silent for a moment. "No, They seem... afraid."

As Jax, Wolfe, Garvel, And Tybalt crept up on the cowering dregs.

"Don't hurt us! By the Emperor, Don't hurt us!" One of them cried

"Relax" Jax said, and gave them some rations. "What planet are we on?"

The dreg looked confused. "We're on Vatar.. where else would we be?"

"Good. Still at home. What hive?" Jax asked

"Edgeer Hive" The dreg responded hesitantly

"What happened here" Garvel asked one of the dregs.

The dreg took a deep breathe before speaking. "We started the work day this morning just like every other day. About mid day as the lunch bell rang, half of the workers pulled rifles and weapons out and began gunning everyone down at random. It... it was awful! Everyone was screaming... a-and running! I saw my family killed by a mutant with a makeshift axe!" The dreg began sobbing uncontrollably.

"What happened to the XI Legion? They should be here restoring order." Jax asked

"They.. They were killed by dark figures with faces pale as ash, with ears as pointed as knives. They're dead, every single one is dead!" The dreg cried. "I can never forget what hell i've seen today!"

Jax Knelt down close to the dreg. "Do you require the Emperor's Benediction?"

"Oh please! I need the Emperor's help!" The dreg sobbed

"Kneel down in prayer. All of you."

The three dregs knelt down and began praying. Jax put an autogun round into each of their heads. He then knelt down and removed a pair of welding goggles with an Aquila stamped on the side. "Might come in handy. Lets get a move on."

As they continued to walk along the catwalk, it bent into a partially destroyed alcove and then out the other side. As Jax stepped into the alcove, A shot rang out and clipped him in the cheek. He fell back bleeding severely on the face, cursing all the while.
