Been keeping busy

During my absence, I've been quite busy, although not with writing. Sorry folks. To the right is a little something I threw together using spare parts. I don't have a name for him yet, although he could be used as an Inquisitor or as an Primarch. Originally it was my attempt at a Primarch, but The size ratio isn't right..

Recently I've acquired Dark Eldar, and some substantial upgrades to my Space marines. Including Five older model space marines, courtesy of Colonel Scipio, which have been folded into my Astartes quite well. Additionally, I've expanded my guard slightly, but I still have quite a bit to paint.

Anyways, I'm keeping busy, and hopefully next time I have a chance I'll upload some pics of my Dark Eldar. This is just a small post to keep you all semi-updated, so enjoy. Adios Amigos, Stay frosty out there.

(NSFW) Tales of Infinite Mischief Episode 2 Part 2

"Who are you, and why can I hear you without an earpiece?" the Arbite questioned.
"I am Inquisitor McDowell, and I had drafted each of you to be my Acolytes," she exclaimed, "Each of you have skills that could be put to great use as part of the Inquisition, and it is easier to exert control over you because you have no choice in the matter.
Jax Arkana, you have death warrants on your head for 37 different planets.  Wolfe Arkana, you were convicted of heresy for attacking Arbites in 15 different sub-sectors."
"I will exercise their punishment then," the Arbite piped up.  He whipped his pistol at Jax's head.  A laspistol and lascannon pointed back at his.
"I wouldn't try that if I were you, twinkle toes," Wolfe said.
"You mess with one Arkana, you mess with all Arkanas," Millard added.  All four of them collapse as if they were shocked.
"As you can see, I took the liberty of having shock collars surgically installed in each of you; along with your left eyes and ears so I can see and hear everything that ya'll are doing."  She released the four from the shock effect.
After a moment of composing himself, the Arbite asked, "What gives you the Emperor-given right to..."  He gets shocked again.
"I am an Inquisitor; that gives me the right."
"Why am I here then?"
"Because Cpt. Titus Harlock, I need an Acolyte that can blend in with the well-off of society.  Your family has connections to the Imperial Guard, planetary governors in their debt.  And, you are very easy to blackmail into coercion."
"That's all well-and-good for them, but I haven't done anything to warrant the Inquisition's attention; and I haven't committed any heresy.  So, why I am here?" the tech-priest questioned.
"You were easy to acquire Midkiff.  You were about to kicked out and executed by the Machine Cult for the crime of trying to have sex with a heavy bolter."  Everyone else has their eyes pop open at that suggestion.
"That is completely untrue, for one thing, the barrel on that thing was too small to do anything with."
Garvel waves his hands in a vain attempt to repel that thought.  "If we're done with all of that, can we focus on the task at hand?  Umm, what is our assignment here Inquisitor?"
"I was going to have you all investigate the possibility of the Hive Governor going heretical, but circumstance has forced my hand.  The uprising started at the behest of the Hive Governor; killing millions of the Emperor's loyal subjects before the day was out.  The Arbitrators in the hive were killed to the last person.  Even the Vatarian XI Regiment could do little against them.  But, the Dark Eldar took advantage of the situation and slaughtered the regiment.  Now, the Blood Angels are here to purge the hive city.  And the Steel Nightmares have shown up within the last three weeks.
Simply put, your new mission is to kill the Hive Governor for his crime against the Imperium."
"I will execute the heretic myself," Titus said through gritted teeth.  The Inquisitor decided that was a good enough reason to stop shocking him.  When he recovered, he straightened out his uniform.  "How are we going to get out of here now."
"We can try to get a Valkyrie working," Jax replied.  He looked to the tech-priest to see if it was possible.
"I'll have to check the condition of them both to see if it can be done," he stated.  Grim started rummaging through the remains with assistance from Garvel and Wolfe.  Jax heard something approaching and reacted quickly enough to avoid splinter pistol fire.
Two Dark Eldar Helions flew through the area; one nearly off Tybalt's head.  Those who weren't preoccupied fired back.  Millard's lascannon shot blew up one of the gliders, and the Helion tumbled into a vat of molten metal.  The other swung back around leaped at Jax.  It backhanded him unconscious before another shot from Millard took its head off.
Jax took awhile to wake up and went immediately to swiping the dead guy's weapons.  Wolfe joined the action, scavenging a splinter rifle for himself.  A crackle of static from the radio of the kill-team caught everyone's attention.
...orces are to withdraw....hive-city within twelve hours...lood Angel strike crui...level the whol..........Imperial forces are......twelve hours.
"Robot, we need to get out of here, soon!" Titus exclaimed.
"I am not a robot you imbecile, I am a tech-priest of Mars.  And I can get this thing working if you jackasses would actually do something," Grim stated.
Everybody leapt into action, except for Titus, trying to fix the damage one of the Valkyries had sustained.  Grim directed the project whenever he wasn't busy himself.  Five hours later, the Valkyrie looked better than new; and they stripped the other of any parts that could be taken, including gun emplacements.
Grim did a test to see if the gunship was still air worthy before letting the others stow the spare parts and guns on it.  Jax approached the cockpit, sat down in one of the seats, and tried to grab the flight stick in front of him.  Grim quickly slapped his hands away and yelled, "ONLY I CAN TOUCH KAREN'S CONTROLS RIGHT NOW!"
"Karen?  Who's Karen?"
"She is the Valkyrie.  She gave permission only to me to fly her."  Jax slammed the door behind him.  "I think the tech-priest wants to fuck the gunship."
"Of course he does; he's a robot," Titus interjected.
"I AM NOT A ROBOT YOU WITLESS BABOON!"
The Valkyrie lifted up towards the hole in the ceiling.  They a scene of mass carnage when they got beyond the slums.  Cultists and dregs butchering innocent people while Dark Eldar and Imperial Guardsman fire indiscriminately into the crowds.  Blood Angels leapt high in the sky above it all as their bolters tore everything apart down below.
Engines flared up to propel the gunship away from the scene; Helions pursuing close behind.  Wolfe and Millard man the guns on the sides and open fire on their pursuers; Jax ran to the cockpit and jumped on the vox.  "Any friendly imperial units, this is General Jax Arkana of the Vatarian 3rd Regiment; we have Dark Eldar all around us and we need support."
"This is Captain Tycho of the Blood Angels 3rd Company, what is your business here General?"
"We're here for the Hive Governor."
"Anyone who is trying to protect the traitor will die with him."  Hunters and Stalkers fired on the Valkyrie.  Missiles streaked past and shells exploded all around.
"Hah!  Emperor's Finest; certainly, the Emperor's Finest Fuck-ups."  Jax followed up with a slew of other insults denouncing the honor of the entire Blood Angels chapter.  Yet more missiles were aimed at the Valkyrie as Grim had to yank and juke the gunship all about to avoid the incoming fire.  Titus grabbed a heavy bolter and shot down all of the missiles from the back of the compartment where a hatch should be.
Jax switched channels on the vox caster, hailing anyone else who could answer.  Eventually, someone did.  "Left-tenant Carpenter here; we heard your call for help.  We'll draw the Space Marines' fire away from you, sir."
"May the Emperor be with you, Lieutenant," Jax replied.
The Valkyrie opened up with every gun it had causing a hole to the outside to be blown in the wall.  A prolonged boost to lose anybody else, and the group was free of the hive city.  As they headed to the highest parts of the hive, they couldn't help but notice the massive Imperator-class Titan firing its weapons on the city.
After a brief discussion they deemed the best course of action was to head to the armoury first to prepare to assault the titan.  A few brief minutes later, the Valkyrie headed for a final approach to the armoury runway.  But, a group of Space Marines was already waiting for them.

Tales of Infinite Mischief; Dramatis Personæ

Jax Arkana
Age: 36
Height: 6'1
Quirk: Outrageous hair
Biography: A very commanding, yet easily angered person. While not the eldest of the Arkana family, he has certainly taken up the role of mentor to the Arkanas, giving him valuable leadership experience. He has also managed to get the death sentence on thirty seven planets, and has arrest warrants on a dozen more and has since been abducted by the Inquisition while serving with the III Vatarian Legion on Novis Prime. Seeing as he was as good as a dead man already, the =I= figured no one would miss him.

Wolfe Arkana
Age: 41
Height: 6'4
Quirk: Set of piercings
Biography: Wolfe Arkana is the eldest of the Arkana family serving in the Imperial Guard. He has a notoriously short temper, and has always been known to have intense bouts of randomized violence. His inability to focus on the most simplest of tasks resulted in him remaining the rank of a lowly guardsmen despite his age and combat experience. He also has an incredibly low I.Q. rating. He was abducted by =I= when the agent responsible for kidnapping Jax mistook Wolfe for him. He was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Tybalt Arl
Age: 35
Height: 5'9
Quirk: Filed Teeth
Biography: Tybalt Arl was born on a Feral world without a name. As a child he was touched by the warp in a way which resulted in his becoming a Psyker. Once taken into the black ships, he vanished for ten long years before reemerging to serve the =I=

Garvel Drake Ramirez
Age: 35
Height: 5'8
Quirk: Devotional scar
Biography: Garvel Ramirez was born on an Imperial world and was quickly brought up to praise the Emperor for all that existed. Growing up he began to learn special talents that allowed him to move undetected throughout most places, and eventually he taught himself how to be completely self sufficient. He was twenty two when he took his first assassination job. He honed his killing skills for thirteen years before being abducted by the =I=. They had taken him after setting up a pseudo-contract for him to take out. When he went to meet his handler, he was instead met by a tranquilizer.

"Captain" Titus Harlock
Age: 36
Height: 6'3
Quirk: Gunshot wound
Biography: Titus Harlock was born to a very militant royal family on Vatar. He is very prideful, and sees anyone else as an inferior to him. When he reached the Enlistment age, instead of joining the guard he joined the Arbites. Using his family's connections, he quickly advanced to the rank of Captain, where he gained a reputation of ruthlessness, had accusations of corruption, but also an infallible sense of "justice". The =I= took him during a raid into the undercity by intercepting his Valkyrie and knocking out all that travelled with him.

Midkiff Gulliman
Age: 32
Height: 5'9
Quirk: Grimy Skin
Biography: Midkiff was to be a great Techpriest, as his father/creater was before him. However, a scandal involving a Heavy Bolter had him kicked out of the Academy. To this day he insists that "He did not have sexual relations with that weapon." Instead of disappearing into the backwater dregs of the Imperium, the =I= took him in. Their reasoning was that if anyone could appreciate technology and make it work to it's best potential, it was Midkiff.

Millard Arkana
Age: 28
Height: 6'1
Quirk: Facial scars
Biography: Millard is the second youngest of the Arkana brothers. He is very intelligent and is afraid of very little. Because of his intellegence, he is often considered the most level-headed of the brothers, and is considered very easy to talk to. He is also an unparalleled marksmen compared to other guardsmen his age. The =I= figured since they have two of his brothers, might as well take him as well. When they discovered how diplomatic and clear-headed he could be, the agent responsible for ringing him in was rewarded greatly for his choice.

Vatarian XII: Meet Lord Commissar Django

Lord Commisar Django has always been a very strict individual. Rumor has it that even as a child, he would attempt to discipline other childen in the Schola Progenium where he was trained. As a discipline master, he is unrivaled within the Legion, and is feared among all the Companies as the fiercest Commissar possibly to ever live. He wears a angle long black trench coat with gold frogging, and has a signature carapace chest piece said to be made from the gold of all the bolt shells he's ever fired. He supposedly forged his own sword upon his promotion to lord commissar, using some technique taught to him by his mentor. The
blade cackles with energies from some power source deep within the blade itself. There is only one unofficial rule with him, one rule that no warnings are given until it is to late. The rule is, the D is Silent.

Short Story, 2nd Company Deployment

(The following takes place between the first and second battle of Arrakia)
Segmentum Tempestus 997.M41

Fetian System, Planet Maracha

It was another quiet morning at the Vatarian XII's Field Command headquarters in the southern hemisphere of Maracha. Lord-General Von Sica sat in his command tent patiently awaiting the arrival of the Legion's six company commanders. He heard footsteps outside his tent as Knight Commander Zaros entered swiftly and snapped to attention. "Sir, Reporting as ordered." Von Sica motioned him to sit in a chair next to him. "Come now Zaros, no need for the formalities of rank today." The knight commander hesitated for a moment then sat down. "The other company commanders should be along shortly." Zaros took a breath before he spoke. "Sir, the other commanders are unavailable. As you only made planetfall yesterday, it seemed fitting to fill you in today after a night's rest." The General seemed to go still for a moment before uttering a simple "Continue." "Well sir, My own first Company is tied up retaking the Pass to the north. companies four, five, and six are in the hive of Del-Onigrav trying to secure a space port to bring down heavier firepower. Company three is trying to clear an Oasis due west of here from an ork Infestation. Early reports are saying it's like a miniature death world there." "What about second Company?" Zaros showed a small hint of uneasiness across his face. "Well sir, They are here but they just came off the line a few days ago. They were the spearhead for the invasion. Pretty badly beaten up and quite.. Irregular." "Irregular, Zaros?" He nodded. "Yes sir. Since making planetfall they have made alterations to their uniform, Began to carry non-issue equipment, Have become less engaged in the formalities of rank, an-" The general raised a hand to cut him off. "They have adapted to the war that is being fought here, Zaros. You may not understand having come from an Academy, But when a unit fights a war as vicious as the one here it begins to adapt in order to survive. Think Zaros. Between the unholy heat, the ork raids at day, chaos incursions at night, and daily shellings, They must do what they deem necessary to survive. Give me the company records." "Yes sir." Zaros handed him a datapad with the Legion Information on it.
Vatarian Armed Forces, 8th Battlegroup

XII Legion, 2nd Company 'Backbreakers'

Current Deployment: Marachan Crusade

Previous Actions: Damocles Gulf Crusade, Kieldar Rebellion, Daratar Offensive, Siege of Grotzka

Decorations: Honour Company (x8), Occupation Medallion (x2), Assault Commendation (x8), Multiple Unit Citations

Commanding Officer: Major Aelgafar Carpenter
"Zaros, what do you know about Major Carpenter." Zaros scratched his chin. "Only what I know sir. Former Royal Marine. Taught at the Airborne Academy after that. Over three dozen decorations, No record of ever having lost a position, No record of ever having a man being declared MIA either. Met him once. He's a bit.. off." The general nodded. "To be expected. I believe i've made my choice." "Choice, sir?" "As of 0047 this morning, the planet of Arrakia has come under major threat from the Forces of Chaos. The capital has been overrun, and the PDF, along with Astartes and Localized Regiments are fighting a guerilla war in the countryside. They have called for any and all available reinforcements. I intend to Oblige them." Zaros looked shocked. "Sir!? We are barely holding the line here, and you intend to send a company, An entire company off planet?! The VII Legion is already being beaten back by the heretics on this planet and you intend to weaken our forces even more?" General Von Sica stood and spoke loudly. "Do not think because I do away with formalities that you may disrespect me so! If Arrakia falls, as does our supply line! And if that falls there is no point in continuing this lovely little war of ours! If we can assist in defending Arrakia, they will be more than obliged to send us reinforcements and the aid we so desperately need." Zaros began to speak but the General cut him off. "I do not need to hear any more of your comments. Inform Carpenter he is to pull his men back to the Naval Lifters at once. They are off planet by sunset. Dismissed."

War of Arrakia pt.2

After the defeat at the capital city, Leton, Imperial forces were routed. The Imperial Guard company had lost itself a nearby desert due to negligence of the command staff. Nearly fifty miles away, the Space Marines were securing an already war-torn town. This puzzled the Astartes since the war had not yet reached this part of the planet.
The Chapter Master of the Thunder Dragons, Varlen, and his newly fitted Terminator Armour was discussing possible options with Captain Lysander of the Imperial Fists. Lysander had come to this planet to try and bring back loyalty to the populace. When the chaos marines attacked, he had taken up arms with the band of  "Renegade" marines to act as their leader. Unable to agree on the best course of action, a new and experimental land speeder, the Fremen-pattern,  was sent into the centre of the battle-scarred town. Not long after it vanished over a line of buildings did gauss fire erupt from all directions. An explosion was heard and the last transmission was simple. "Unable to maintain altitude. Necron presence confirmed. Crash Landing imminent." With those three simple sentences, the battle for the town of Melange had begun.

Land Speeder Fremen crash site

The advanced units of the Thunder Dragons crept up the streets without saying a word. All units stopped at the hand signal of the Lead marine. First and Second squad took up defensive positions along the side alleyways and waited patiently. A single voice broke through the silence. "Hostile Astartes spotted. Rhino approaching. Not responding to Communications." The Steel Nightmare Chapter had arrived and was in a battle formation.
First and Second squad advancing by the numbers
The Thunder Dragons advanced rapidly into combat positions. Assault Marines soared over the battlefield and landed behind the approaching Steel Nightmare Rhinos. A krak grenade was thrown at the Rhino to no effect. The lead scout summoned Chapter Master Varlen on the vox with an idea. Fire into the side of the Rhino and try to rend through the armour. It was a gambit. And it Worked.

Forward Scouts Spot the Oncoming Rhinos

The scouts' fire destroy the Rhino, Embarked unit evacuates

The Marines from the Steel Nightmares were cut down without mercy. A librarian from the Nightmare's appeared not long after the destruction of the Rhino. As he began to summon a Vortex of  Doom, the perils of the Warp overtook him. He was torn limb from limb by the powers of the dark gods. The ground shook violently beneath the approaching Space Marine advance force.
The advance was going smoothly

All hell broke loose as the Necrons sprung up from the ground

The ground roared as a Necron Monolith teleported onto the battlefield, bringing with it the death and destruction of Immortals and Warriors. Leading the Necron onslaught was Anrakyr the Traveler. He had come to Arrakia on the eve of the chaos invasion to reactivate a small tomb world that had laid buried far below the surface. Flying over the main force were a brutal-looking squad of Necron destroyers. Lysander ordered one of his renegade predators to open fire. At first, the autocannon only chipped away at the rugged chassis of the destroyers. But then, one by one, the destroyers crashed and burned from as the autocannon began to rip them apart. The victory was a small one, because soon after, the Monolith opened fire. The Renegade's Librarian saw an opportunity to push forward and try to carve a path through the Necron lines. They never made it to the front line. The Necron monolith fired its main weapon at the advancing Astartes.

And then there were none

Seeing an opportunity to strike, Captain Lysander led a squad of Terminators against the enemy immortals. The assaulters charged against the Necron Immortals, losing only two brothers in the process. They struck the immortals like a hard tidal wave. However, from the rear of the Immortals, He appeared. Anrakyr the Traveler. He stood before captain Lysander. The challenge was made and accepted. Time seemed to slow as the two great warriors circled each other. Thunder cracked with each blow struck. The epic duel seemed to last a lifetime. Beside the two great warriors in their duel, The Terminators and Immortals were locked in vicious combat. But suddenly, as if the Emperor himself empowered Lysander, A killing blow was struck against Anrakyr. The Necron immortals seized the husk of their fallen leader and skulked back to wherever they had come from. A great cheer arose from the surviving battle-brothers.

The Epic Duel

Even though Anrakyr had fallen, the battle was far from other. The Monolith roared back into combat and continuously bombarded the marine positions. The Astartes had no choice but to take cover and go to ground to prevent being wiped out entirely. During the exchange of bolter fire and gauss fire a frantic transmission had been sent from the Thunder Dragon's Scouts. "Sir! The Fremen-pattern, they have it! The foul Necrons have secured the crashed speeder. No sign of the crew of the speeder, presumed dead."

The Necrons had won. While the forces of Astartes were occupied fighting Necron diversionary forces, a Necron warrior squad was able to raid, secure, and capture the downed land speeder. This means that the experimental technology and computing systems of the Astartes can now be analyzed by Necron spies. Unfortunately the Friendly Fire incident with the Steel Nightmares Chapter has led to many casualties. In the coming battles, The allied forces numbers are significantly few. There are three companies of Astartes, a company of Arrakian PDF soldiers, and the soon arriving 44th Arrakian Light Infantry.

"We are reduced to fighting a running war. We must hit them every chance we have with whatever we have. I am currently organizing a retaliation force at Con-D'Ben. Bring your respective companies back to this line. Victory is soon to be ours, but first we must regroup to hit them right where it hurts. You have your orders. Carry on." -Field Marshall Peach

Vatarian XII: Meet Warrant Officer Victor Traakas

Warrant Officer Traakas has always been a navy man. His father was a navy man, and his father's father was a navy man. He comes from a whole line of navy men. So when he was stationed as a liaison with the Vatarian XII's command squad, he was sour about it. He made every argument to his superiors but was ultimately sent planet side. On his first day he went to Knight-Commander Zaros and demanded a transfer. The Commander promptly acknowledged his request and stationed him with a frontline combat unit for a week. At the end of that week, he was given the option to remain with the frontline unit or to return to the command headquarters. To this day he refuses to leave the command centre without an armed escort. While he despises everything about his current assignment, he understands this is just one step on the road to admiralty.

Battle Highlight: 9/May/13

Okay, so get this. Last night I played warhammer against some Black Templars/Space Wolves. Their Rune Priest ( SW librarian, I think) challenged my vet squad's leader to a duel. I accepted.

Fontaine managed to score not one but TWO hits against the librarian before being taken out of the fight. I just think that's outstanding! If I could've gotten one more roll in I could've killed his warlord with a sergeant!!

On a side note, my opponent did deep strike terminators behind my lines. Luckily I used FRFSRF and popped off about 50 Lasgun shots. Give or take some. The terminators were less than 12 inches away and oh man did they suffer for it. My lesson learned last night: Lasguns, in numbers, can destroy tactical dreadnaughts.

Vatarian XII: Meet Sergeant Fontaine

Gunnery Sergeant Fontaine is veteran of both previous crusades and a no-nonsense squad leader. He has walked away from brutal ambushes and deadly firefights, often as the sole survivor of his unit. This has given him a reputation of being unlucky to be around and as a result most units who serve under him tend to be extremely cautious of their surroundings. He and his unit often act as forward sentries; moving ahead of the main force and equipped with snare mines and camo cloaks.
This combined with Fonraine's knowledge of guerrilla warfare makes the squad a lethal and hard to kill force.

Before he joined the Vatarian Guard, Fontaine was a professional fighter on Vatar. Never losing a single fight made him into a symbol of imperial might and once he answered the call of the guard, it was like a hero joining the ranks. The younger guardsmen looked up to him as an idol and symbol of what an imperial soldier should be.

Weekly Update 1

Had an amazing weekend with my warhammer games. I have plenty of photos to post battle reports, so pretty soon I'll get on writing those down and updating everything. I do have to say, blood angels suck to fight with IG.

On a side note, I've picked up a Harker model as well as another model I'm using as a Primaris Psyker, so I'll be doing character sheets for those soon (It'd be boring if I kept them as Harker and some random Psyker). I've also ordered some Krieg troopers I'm going to run as a Vet Squad. Very very excited about those :). Almost forgot: Also having a Yarrick coming in the post, so he'll defiantly bolster my forces substantially.

Expect battle reports, character profiles, and painting updates in the next few days. Looking forward to comments! :)
