Arrakian Accord: Recent summation

Air Strike in Leytan

The Battlefield of Leytan
Chaos Champion, precursor to the World Eaters
XII Regiment Squad
Different battle, still a nice pic tho
Well guys, it's been a while. Here is a summation of events of the campaign. There have been two battles, lost to the annals of history.
Summed up: The tau arrived and pleaded for assistance from the Imperials, specificially the steel nightmares. In exchange for helping fight the heretics, the tau will be given mechanical assistance.

Leytan city was secured in a bloody, bloody fight. It was an apocolypse size game that left hundreds dead or wounded. However with the securing of the Leytan spaceport, The Imperials can now reinforce themselves. The lack of supplies and men will lead to massive refit operation and supply drops. The rest will be revealed in the next arrakian accord proper.

I'M BACK!!!

It's been a few months since my last post here.  I have been busy with other writing projects.  Now that I'm back I'll try to keep to a regular weekly schedule.  So, some time today or tomorrow be on the lookout for the first of an article series called:  Bit of Analysis.
In it, I'll be examining the fliers of the 41st Millennium; and how they translate to the tabletop.  The very first article of this new series: Nephilim Jetfighter.  See ya'll then.

Awful, Awful news

A few days ago, my PC suffered a fatal crash. Only today was I able to recover it, but not without doing a complete system reboot. Everything is gone. All the pictures. All my rough drafts. All of it. So, it will be a while before I can post again. Sorry folks. This nonsense was out of my control. ((P.S)) I just discovered when placing the picture eon this blog (See below) that I still have several of the old pictures uploaded to the Blogger site. Including the Next few Arrakian Accord parts. So. Cheers, I suppose.

Here's a picture to hopefully help:

Liebster Award!

Hey Folks! I got nominated for a Liebster Award, Courtesy of Colonel Scipio. From what I gather the award goes out to blogs who are small, and still in development to try and help them get up and out there. My thanks goes out to the Colonel, and all the support he has shown me in the months that I've known him. Seriously guys, he put up with about a thousand questions about this, that, and the other thing whenever I was confused. Thank you again, Colonel!

There are some guidelines for what an individual who is given a Liebster is supposed to do.
  • Copy and paste the award on your blog linking the blogger who has given it to you.
  • Pass the award to your top 11 blogs with less than 200 followers by leaving a comment on one of their posts to notify them that they have won the award and listing them on your own blog.
  • Sit back and bask in the warm fuzzy feeling that you have made someones day.
  • There is no obligation to pass the award on to someone else but it is nice if you take the time to do so.
My Nominee(s)

The Fluff: Long ago in M.31 when the Lion ordered the Destruction of Caliban, A select few of Luther's followers were ordered to leave the planet and spread to the farthest reaches of Imperial Space to bring unite the true followers of the Emperor to be witness to the traitorous actions of the First Legion. Their Leader, Hector Apophys, acted as a shepherd to the lost flock that was now called "The Fallen", uniting them into a singular force that quickly vanished into the unknowns of space. It wasn't until M.38 in Abbadon's Ninth Black Crusade that an unknown Astartes Chapter was seen fighting alongside Imperial forces on Corillia against the traitor marines. These Astartes wore blood red power armour with white trim, white streaks in a warpaint fashion, and deep sea blue eye visors. In the field of battle these Astartes were fearless in their assaults on Abbadon's forces, often going to suicidal lengths to destroy their enemy. The only battle cries they cried were for a man named "Luther."
At the end of the crusade when Corillia was finally relieved by the Ultramarines, the Astartes vanished from the planet without a single trace of their being there.
In various conflicts following the Ninth Crusade, these same Red Warriors would appear and smite the enemies of the Imperium. It wasn't until M.40, when questioned by an Astartes from the Black Templars about their Origin that the a Red Warrior finally spoke to an outsider. "Who are you, Brother?" The Templar was said to ask.
To which the Thunder Dragon replied: "I am a Thunder Dragon, and I fight in the name of Truth and Revelation."
The Templar was confused. "Thunder Dragon? Who do you follow?"
The Thunder Dragon stood tall. "I serve the Emperor, and follow my Lord Hector."

These are the two pictures I have. To the right is a picture of my 'Hades' squad. The front four marines are 2nd or 3rd edition marines courtesy of Colonel Scipio. The picture is a bit bright due to the flash, but you can just make out the detail on them. Each one has a purity seal on the right pauldron to help distinguish them from the rest of the squad.

My Chapter Master is equipped Artificer armour along with a Thunder Hammer. I wanted him to look more unique, so I used Grey Knight bits along with a Commander kit to formulate a special appearance. I trimmed him with gold and silver, and added a great many purity seals and other small trinkets that I feel really bring out the model. The banner to his left I hand painted, attempting to make a Watcher in the Dark holding a sword. Considering the freehand, I feel it turned out nicely. The man to his right is my Chapter Champion. I used a Deathwing shield and a Grey Knight sword to give the appearance of an old 14th Century knight. The two guys behind the Shield-Bearer and the Standard carrier are just holding Halbards, not finished painting at the time of this picture.

Anyway guys, hope you enjoyed the pictures and the fluff. Any questions, comments, or recommendations just leave a comment and I'll get back to you. Stay frosty out there!

Been keeping busy

During my absence, I've been quite busy, although not with writing. Sorry folks. To the right is a little something I threw together using spare parts. I don't have a name for him yet, although he could be used as an Inquisitor or as an Primarch. Originally it was my attempt at a Primarch, but The size ratio isn't right..

Recently I've acquired Dark Eldar, and some substantial upgrades to my Space marines. Including Five older model space marines, courtesy of Colonel Scipio, which have been folded into my Astartes quite well. Additionally, I've expanded my guard slightly, but I still have quite a bit to paint.

Anyways, I'm keeping busy, and hopefully next time I have a chance I'll upload some pics of my Dark Eldar. This is just a small post to keep you all semi-updated, so enjoy. Adios Amigos, Stay frosty out there.

Happy Almost Thanksgiving!

My dearest Amerikanski bretheren, it is that time of year again where our family comes by in droves for little to no reason other than to eat your food. So as the fateful day draws near, our rituals of preparation have begun. Cooking, Cleaning, Cooking more, etc have become second nature. So for everyone, Amerikana or otherwise, Happy Thanksgiving! Happy Turkey Day! Happy Feasting day! As soon as all this over I will return to my attempts at learning Dark Heresy and watching Braveheart. Have a good Holiday, all!

RMS Titanic, Opening the box

Today a friend of mine got me a small gift. Revell's 1/400 model titanic. It was a lovely gift and I'm very excited to begin putting it together. I don't think it'll be done within the week because of scale of the project though. If anyone has any tips on how to paint it up with Citadel colours, please let me know. This has to be as nice as I can make it to honour those who have been lost on it. Leave any tips you have for me, and I'll check them out.

Update: What a lovely day to fight!

Such a lovely morning it is today! A slight breeze blowing, a filling breakfast, and my iPod on shuffle. The best part is, A long awaited battle is to take place tonight, fighting off the Thousand Sons in the Arrakian Campaign! For those who haven't been able to keep up, the Imperials are FAR from doing well fighting off the chaos onslaught. That will change tonight, I can feel it.
My breakfast and the view I had it in
I also spoke with Colonel Scipio this morning regarding a small project of mine and got some good advice that will be looked into with optimism.
The Arrakian Accord pt 4 may take a little more time than I would like, mostly because I've been working on my 2nd Company models and playing Silent Hunter III with some side gaming on World In Conflict and XCOM Enemy unknown. Between the gaming and working on 2nd Coy I did manage to finish a commission for my friend Andrew, which turned out nice and I should have pictures uploaded shortly. It's all coming together though so at least a little bit of work is getting done on my end.
An update on the Thunder Dragons: I've finished another one of my tactical squads (two more to go!) and have begun to paint up an old metal Dreadnaught. (In hindsight maybe I should take WIP pictures.. it will be done!) After that my goal is to finish up my Assault squad. It was a good idea to alternate between guard and marines. It takes longer, but I find it helps maintain sanity with painting. With guard comes ordered, nice uniforms. With marines comes blood red with white war paint all across the armour. Still working on a good Imperial Vehicle paint schemes though..

Also, before I forget, Soon I won't be the only one posting here. The man who Inspired Field Marshall Peach (AKA the leader of the Omega Legion and those pesky Necrons) will be positng AAR's and pictures here as well. Huzzah for Cooperation!

2nd Company (No pictures yet, save 1)

Before I get started, the picture is from a recent game I had with a few mates of mine. It was supposed to be part of the Arrakian Campaign, but this is the only picture I got from it all. Technical difficulties are a beech. I'll probably end up either repeating the battle, or reenacting what happened with my own forces. Moving on.

I began a project of mine as my numbers are filling out a little more. Second Company. Identifiable only by a red stripe on the armour.
After thinking about it for a while, the red stripe idea just didn't seem like it was enough. I began to go through my bitz box and my "Throwaway models bin" (Models that are broken an unsalvageable on their own) and scrapped up two platoons of Catachans. After some tinkering and kitbashing, I'd made a squad of troopers that looked especially rough. I liked the look, truth be told. Added personality. A type of Veteran-like look that made these guys look like they've seen it all. Armour that is beaten and battered, cyber enhancements, non-regulation looking uniforms. The works. These guys just look like they've seen it all, and don't care. I've determined that will be the look I go for with this company. Hardened Front-Line fighters. I will be able to post pictures as soon as the command squad is finished, so hopefully soon. I'm very very excited about how they've all turned out!

Arrakia: Just what the heck is it?

Arrakia. Interesting name, isn't it? Derived from Arrakis, a planet in Frank Herbert's 'Dune'. But just why the heck are we even here? Well, it began on a regular warhammer Thursday. Myself, the guy who owns the renegade chapter, and a few friends were just laughing and joking around while we were playing. The running joke became Abbadon starting another failing crusade in some system near the eye. Just humor, good times and whatnot. Afterwards though, we began really talking about it, since the game had no true end, what if we have a continuation of what's going on? What if we keep playing until it's resolved? Thus, the Arrakian campaign was born. Field Marshall Peach, which started as a joke, Became the source of the finest quotes of the battles we play, and may possibly make an appearance in future games with his own model. However, since my Imperial Guard Army is being massively reorganized and repainted, It gives me a chance to try out my Marines and see what works and what doesn't. By no means though have I abandoned the Marachan Crusade though. The reason no progress has been made on that is because the VII Legion's CO has gone off to college for the Fall Semester. We will be able to play, but not until whenever he comes back to visit. We have everything lined up for it, too. And I apologize if this seems rambly, ive been up for quite some time. If you haveany suggestions for Organization, the campaign, or anything really, leave a comment. All are welcome. Otherwise, see you all On The Bounce.

Glory to Vatar! Glory to the Legions!

War of Arrakia pt.2

After the defeat at the capital city, Leton, Imperial forces were routed. The Imperial Guard company had lost itself a nearby desert due to negligence of the command staff. Nearly fifty miles away, the Space Marines were securing an already war-torn town. This puzzled the Astartes since the war had not yet reached this part of the planet.
The Chapter Master of the Thunder Dragons, Varlen, and his newly fitted Terminator Armour was discussing possible options with Captain Lysander of the Imperial Fists. Lysander had come to this planet to try and bring back loyalty to the populace. When the chaos marines attacked, he had taken up arms with the band of  "Renegade" marines to act as their leader. Unable to agree on the best course of action, a new and experimental land speeder, the Fremen-pattern,  was sent into the centre of the battle-scarred town. Not long after it vanished over a line of buildings did gauss fire erupt from all directions. An explosion was heard and the last transmission was simple. "Unable to maintain altitude. Necron presence confirmed. Crash Landing imminent." With those three simple sentences, the battle for the town of Melange had begun.

Land Speeder Fremen crash site

The advanced units of the Thunder Dragons crept up the streets without saying a word. All units stopped at the hand signal of the Lead marine. First and Second squad took up defensive positions along the side alleyways and waited patiently. A single voice broke through the silence. "Hostile Astartes spotted. Rhino approaching. Not responding to Communications." The Steel Nightmare Chapter had arrived and was in a battle formation.
First and Second squad advancing by the numbers
The Thunder Dragons advanced rapidly into combat positions. Assault Marines soared over the battlefield and landed behind the approaching Steel Nightmare Rhinos. A krak grenade was thrown at the Rhino to no effect. The lead scout summoned Chapter Master Varlen on the vox with an idea. Fire into the side of the Rhino and try to rend through the armour. It was a gambit. And it Worked.

Forward Scouts Spot the Oncoming Rhinos

The scouts' fire destroy the Rhino, Embarked unit evacuates

The Marines from the Steel Nightmares were cut down without mercy. A librarian from the Nightmare's appeared not long after the destruction of the Rhino. As he began to summon a Vortex of  Doom, the perils of the Warp overtook him. He was torn limb from limb by the powers of the dark gods. The ground shook violently beneath the approaching Space Marine advance force.
The advance was going smoothly

All hell broke loose as the Necrons sprung up from the ground

The ground roared as a Necron Monolith teleported onto the battlefield, bringing with it the death and destruction of Immortals and Warriors. Leading the Necron onslaught was Anrakyr the Traveler. He had come to Arrakia on the eve of the chaos invasion to reactivate a small tomb world that had laid buried far below the surface. Flying over the main force were a brutal-looking squad of Necron destroyers. Lysander ordered one of his renegade predators to open fire. At first, the autocannon only chipped away at the rugged chassis of the destroyers. But then, one by one, the destroyers crashed and burned from as the autocannon began to rip them apart. The victory was a small one, because soon after, the Monolith opened fire. The Renegade's Librarian saw an opportunity to push forward and try to carve a path through the Necron lines. They never made it to the front line. The Necron monolith fired its main weapon at the advancing Astartes.

And then there were none

Seeing an opportunity to strike, Captain Lysander led a squad of Terminators against the enemy immortals. The assaulters charged against the Necron Immortals, losing only two brothers in the process. They struck the immortals like a hard tidal wave. However, from the rear of the Immortals, He appeared. Anrakyr the Traveler. He stood before captain Lysander. The challenge was made and accepted. Time seemed to slow as the two great warriors circled each other. Thunder cracked with each blow struck. The epic duel seemed to last a lifetime. Beside the two great warriors in their duel, The Terminators and Immortals were locked in vicious combat. But suddenly, as if the Emperor himself empowered Lysander, A killing blow was struck against Anrakyr. The Necron immortals seized the husk of their fallen leader and skulked back to wherever they had come from. A great cheer arose from the surviving battle-brothers.

The Epic Duel

Even though Anrakyr had fallen, the battle was far from other. The Monolith roared back into combat and continuously bombarded the marine positions. The Astartes had no choice but to take cover and go to ground to prevent being wiped out entirely. During the exchange of bolter fire and gauss fire a frantic transmission had been sent from the Thunder Dragon's Scouts. "Sir! The Fremen-pattern, they have it! The foul Necrons have secured the crashed speeder. No sign of the crew of the speeder, presumed dead."

The Necrons had won. While the forces of Astartes were occupied fighting Necron diversionary forces, a Necron warrior squad was able to raid, secure, and capture the downed land speeder. This means that the experimental technology and computing systems of the Astartes can now be analyzed by Necron spies. Unfortunately the Friendly Fire incident with the Steel Nightmares Chapter has led to many casualties. In the coming battles, The allied forces numbers are significantly few. There are three companies of Astartes, a company of Arrakian PDF soldiers, and the soon arriving 44th Arrakian Light Infantry.

"We are reduced to fighting a running war. We must hit them every chance we have with whatever we have. I am currently organizing a retaliation force at Con-D'Ben. Bring your respective companies back to this line. Victory is soon to be ours, but first we must regroup to hit them right where it hurts. You have your orders. Carry on." -Field Marshall Peach

NSAE #2

Good: Just inherited a 4000+ pt plus army, have a codex for it and everything. Have and IG codex coming in the mail any day now. The best news: Once it's arrived, I've spoken to the other players and we are 100% ready to begin the Marachan Crusade! Excitement levels are *very* high among all of us who are involved.

Bad: Have to refurbish the new army I got. Its SM and a collection of many, many different chapters and factions.

Ugly: No ugly news, all good!

NSAE #1 (Nope, Still Alive Everyone)

I've got three categories of news right now: The Good, The Bad, And the Ugly.

The Good: I've got my inspiration back for painting and warhammer. I also have a shiney new digital camera to take pictures with as well as a new laptop. (Graduation Presents, both of them)
The Bad: For the longest time I was looking at my growing collection of 40+ troopers I still had to paint and put together. I was at the phase of "That is way too much, i'll do it later." No longer though.
The Ugly: Games may take a while to put up. I no longer have my ipad (which had several pictures and a couple of battle reports on it). And since my ipad is gone, I no longer have my codex and rulebook.

However I am working on acquiring a new rulebook as well as codex, and it will not take long to attain them both. I've made it back over the roughest patch of my warhammer career. So hopefully i'll have a few battle reports up here pretty soon. Hopefully. losing the ipad is a blessing and a curse. It wouldn't let me post anything too lengthy.

On a side note, My turtle Uylesses died :( . I've had him for years and he's gone. So in his named I've christened a new Captain in his name. Cpt. Uylesses. he'll be a platoon commander or something. You'll het to see him when I have a wargame with the VII Legion later this week. It's the one game U have schedualed for certain.

A quick update

Sorry for not posting as much as I want to, I got a new laptop and just have been very busy with things lately. But yes, now that I have a new laptop I should be able to post a lot more than I have been. Anyways I'll try to post a battle report tonight. I'm actually posting this article from my game store anyways. Also I may have a friend posting articles as well; He plays here and wants to join the crusade! Back to why he's posting though. He will be posting the air battles of warhammer, and I think its a good idea that is very rarely done. So whenever he starts give his stuff a read and enjoy

Until my next post, Stay Frosty.

Inspiration

I've been thing about doing another kitbash commander, but I don't know what I should go for. I'm thinking terminator armour but I'm not 100% on it. Any ideas or suggestions? I mean, I like my current one. Love him actually, I just like to have some variety

My current CO:

I also have a battle report to do, I just haven't had time to write it out yet. And I'm also working on Sgt. Fontaine's squad. Hopefully by the end of the weekend I'll have something done.

WiP: Rasleigh's Raiders

So, I was sitting in my room eating mushroom and cheese Stromboli and watching Reign of Fire when an idea came into my head. I need storm troopers, I said to myself. So I looked them up and decided: wow that model looks stupid. I need an alternative. I need the Death Korps of Krieg. But how would I use them? Would I deploy as regular storm troopers, or give them a title? After brainstorming for about half an hour, Rasleigh's Raiders were born. They will be a squad of the Vatarian Marine Corps. I'll deliver full fluff for them once I finish the entire squad, I've got it written down, I just want to finish what I've got.

Not long after, my Krieg gentlemen came in the post, finally. Fun little fact about Krieg: the resin on the sprues is thicker than that on the actual model. This had led to many a broken foot, rifle, rifle stock, grenades, etc. nothing horrible, all was reglued with some effort on my part. It was quite irksome though. Painting the Krieg troopers wasn't so bad and except for a few nooks and crannies an even still a decent paint job was administered without much effort.

I only have a few pictures and they weren't taken with the best quality. I will try to get better quality pictures soon, hopefully tonight since it will be another warhammer thursday match.

While painting I wondered what would I expect a Vatarian marine to wear. Originally, it was going to be a grey coat with black trim and whatnot but then I realised: I'd be making a WWII German SS squad. So I went into brainstorming mode and doodled a few paint schemes. I thought maybe red with a white trim, but I thought it looked too much like English regulars from the 1700's. I did decide I liked the white on the model because it projected the opposite of a death Korps trooper. (The further it resembles the better) and I decided that since marines would traditionally be attached to a naval vessel , I gave them a blue overcoat with black boots and helmet. I made the mask nothing special, just a fray mask with a white hose. The overall effect, in my eyes, presented a professional, military shock force. I can't wait to see what that look like once they're all painted.

3500 point madness!

Hey ya'll. Had a 3500 point game last night, will post updates soon. All I can say is: Bugs vs SM, SM, IG, & Chaos/Necrons

Heck of a game and I can't wait to post about it
